Job Summary:

This position will have primary responsibility for maintaining lab cleanliness; assisting with managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams; receiving, distributing, and notifying other lab staff of incoming shipments. Additionally, this position may support Facilities and Lab Management staff with light equipment and facility maintenance, maintaining consumable supply inventory, and assist in managing our lab/office recycling. Other clerical and project support duties may be assigned as well.

Essential Functions

  • Sweep laboratory common areas daily
  • Screen and dispose of non-hazardous trash daily
  • Maintain Dycem clean mats
  • Swiffering laboratory common areas weekly; screen and dispose of mop pads
  • Sweep and Swiffer Chemistry, Imaging, and Animal Care areas as needed
  • Assist Facilities and Lab Management staff with light maintenance
  • Assist Lab Management staff with collection and disposal of non- hazardous materials
  • Monitor biohazardous waste bins and move to main waste accumulation area as necessary
  • Monitor and assist with management of chemical waste satellite accumulation areas
  • Assist with stocking of consumable PPE / supplies at laboratory entrances and common areas
  • Maintain inventories of consumables and PPE
  • Manage recycling streams to support Invicro's Green Initiatives
  • Light filing, scanning and electronic management of invoices
  • Work with potentially radioactive materials
  • Receiving, distribution, tracking of packages/management of loading dock
  • Assist with preparation of shipments; domestic and international
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a laboratory environment, familiarity working in a loading dock/shipping and receiving environment, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Slack
  • Organized, self-starter with ability to initiate or improve processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift 40+ pounds
  • Work well independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain a clean lab environment and have a keen eye to identify and coordinate periodic cleaning

Preferred

  • B.S. or B.A. in scientific discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Previous experience working with radioactivity and biological or chemical hazards
