Under direct supervision and guidance of the Manager, Digital Programs, and Senior Manager, Communications, we're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Digital Communications Intern to join our Public Affairs team in Canada. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in content management, internal communications, and webpage design.
The Digital Communications Intern will be responsible for revamping the BD-Canada office's internal website, enhancing the user experience and content. This role will maintain a Content Management System (CMS) to support the web design and delivery of information for engaging associates. Through creativity and clear communication, they will work collaboratively on a refreshed Intranet that informs and inspires our Canadian organization. The position will require to be onsite in our offices in Mississauga, ON Monday to Thursday, remote on Fridays.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in updating the internal website for BD in Canada by enhancing its user experience and content delivery to ensure it is user-friendly and visually appealing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and incorporate feedback into the website's design and content.
- Coordinate a list of all pages and organize any changes to site structure or content improvements.
- Utilize skills in writing, visual communication, web applications and tools to enhance the functionality and interactivity of the internal website.
- Ensure all digital content aligns with BD's brand guidelines and communication standards.
- Review and edit existing pages content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
Education and Experience
- You must be currently enrolled in an accredited Ontario based college/university, in a qualifying undergraduate program (Bachelor's) in the field of Communication, such as Digital Communications or Digital Business Management, and have completed at least 3 years of studies.
- Must be in good academic standing pursuing their degree, combined with the ability to work for 4 months in the summer.
- Working experience in creating and managing digital content preferred.
- Comfortable using content management systems (CMS) or web publishing tools an asset.
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent listening, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Outstanding writing skills with attention to detail.
- Strong time management and ability to prioritize assignments.
- Proficiency with Windows 10 AND MS Office tools, (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to work independently, with minimal guidance and supervision.
- Graphic design skills for Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign highly desirable.
