Job Description

Overview of the role

You will be responsible for the development and execution of an industry business specific vision and strategy and has full P&L accountability for approximately $60M MDS industry business in EMEA.

The role sits at the center of BD's matrix organization and requires close collaboration with and coordination between the EMEA MDS and Global Industry team. With the B2B business, this role should be covering (but not limited) the following segments: OEM, kit packers, Pharma, and animal health.

Reporting directly to the VP/GM MDS EMEA, you will manage a team of approximately 20 people; taking ownership for driving balanced and profitable growth, on top of our base business, should have a continuous improvement mentality towards demonstrating customers support and service, aligning with MDS on how to better support them more seamlessly across our product platforms, making BD the partner of choice.

Key responsibilities:

Strategy Execution/Commercial Implementation (P&L accountability)

  • Ensures the development of ambitious but achievable operating plans and budgets for MDS.
  • Is accountable for overall MDS Industry performance to budget.
  • Provides effective business and financial reporting to EMEA and Global leaders.
  • Leads the implementation of marketing plans, solutions positioning/pricing and product launch plans, partnering with EMEA business teams to ensure effective leverage of resources and capabilities.
  • Monitors and coordinates short-and-long-term market and business trends and ensures translation into reliable short, medium and long term plans (from operational forecasting to market development).
  • Proactively supervises the financial performance of the business and any deviations from critical project plans. Ensures implementation of any vital contingency plans and/or corrective actions to effectively mitigate risk.
  • Develops effective relationship with key customer accounts.
  • Collaborates closely with global platforms, R&D, Quality and the Plants to prioritize new product development, specifications and pricing strategy.
  • Builds strong organization, processes, and develops critical capabilities to drive coordinated solutions and achieve the marketing strategy.

Business & Marketing Strategy

  • Builds, communicates and engages the team in the 3-5 years vision and strategy for MDS Industry in EMEA.
  • Captures market needs and trends in the industry and recommends respective priorities and solutions/product positioning.
  • Leads planning development and implementation marketing and sales strategy. Supplies to regional market development activities. Ensures compliance with the BD Way of Selling and Commercial Excellence initiatives including use of CRM and pipeline management.
  • Engages the organization around the vision and objectives.
  • Further develops the interpersonal capabilities to meet business targets.
  • Develops an organization that embraces growth mindset and change, new initiatives and will be ready for future challenges.
  • Collaborates with the Global Industry team to provide EMEA input and voice of customers for new projects.

Business Project and People Leadership

  • Sponsor, leads and provides oversight on major multidisciplinary and cross-business project and initiatives on regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Communicates clearly objectives & critical metrics, assign the right talents to the key projects.
  • Hereby ensures strong and effective operational links with the Regional/Country/Hub Business Leaders, and Global Industry leaders.
  • Serves as a leader and mentor. Drives excellence by upskilling across marketing and commercial proficiencies. Requests robust organization and resources.
  • Provides mentorship to the team with focus on developing people and building leadership capabilities.

About you

  • You will need to bring significant depth and breadth of commercial and marketing knowledge and experience.
  • The ability to integrate an understanding of sound business and financial fundamentals within depth knowledge of our market and industry.
  • Successful track record in sales, marketing and business management experience in medical devices/industry market.
  • Shown experience operating in an international environment and experience in leading large teams of professionals are a must.
  • Applying a deep understanding of customer needs, market dynamics and clinical standards to deliver innovation and improve health outcomes, better serve customer needs, and drive company results.
  • The ability for continued personal and professional growth is viewed as key for sustained contribution in this role.
  • The cultural fit will be critical, with emphasis on the strive to succeed, strong interpersonal skills and BD values.
  • Being capable of building strong coalitions and influence the key partners (Business Leaders in the countries, members of the EMEA and Global teams), to demonstrate their strengths to drive growth, will also be the key to success.
