Job Summary:

Supports Material Planner/Buyers by performing duties related to scheduling orders, preparing purchase requisitions, issuing RFQ's, updating system information and assisting in resolving problems associated with production schedules, inventory levels and material shortages. Maintains appropriate records and files as required. Assists Material Planners/Buyers in all phases of purchasing including establishing new suppliers, managing existing supplier relationships, communicating with internal customers regarding deliveries, quality issues, returns, etc., and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Material Planning team with creation of Purchase Requisitions (PR) for PO generation
  • Enter into SAP necessary data to generate PR's such as part numbers, quantities, delivery dates, price, shipping locations, alternate vendors, and any additional information needed to process order transactions.
  • Coordinate with Sales Order Management Team to ensure accurate pricing on PR's
  • Communicate regularly with internal departments and external suppliers concerning backorders, expediting orders, changes in scheduled delivery dates, cancellations, returns, and other special requests.
  • Process Non-PO transactions such as urgent shipments, return goods, freight charges, drop shipments, consignment parts, etc.
  • Maintain various reports related to Inventory Control, Shipment Schedules, Vendor Performance, Open Orders, Backorders, Receiving Discrepancies, Price Change Notifications, New Item Requests, Expedite Orders, Quality Alerts, Supplier Complaints, and Special Handling Requests.
  • Update Master BOMs when changes occur to reflect new costs or vendor lead times
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal customers and external suppliers to resolve discrepancies, schedule deliveries, obtain price quotes, expedite orders, issue RFQ's, update system information, and maintain goodwill.
  • Attend meetings and conferences as requested by Supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related field preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software; strong knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills
