Job Description

Are you detailed oriented, good at building out schedules and super efficient? Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Transportation Manager to oversee all logistics for their auto auction operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing transportation teams, coordinating fleet and dealership vehicle deliveries, and ensuring the efficient movement of vehicles between the auction, vendors, and customers. This role is critical in maintaining a smooth, cost-effective transportation process, ensuring vehicles are handled safely, and leading a team of drivers and support staff utilizing standard vehicles and tow trucks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of vehicle transportation, including inbound and outbound vehicle assignments.
  • Oversee a fleet of trucks and transportation vehicles to ensure they are well-maintained and compliant with all regulations.
  • Ensure vehicle logs are completed daily, with timely weekly reporting.
  • Develop and implement efficient transportation schedules to meet deadlines for deliveries and pick-ups.
  • Collaborate with vendors, auction staff, and customers to guarantee timely and proper vehicle delivery.
  • Monitor and control transportation costs to align with budget goals while maximizing operational efficiency.
  • Enforce safety protocols and compliance with all transportation regulations.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of drivers, ensuring optimal scheduling and providing regular performance feedback.
  • Maintain detailed records of transportation activities, including schedules, vehicle conditions, and driver performance.
  • Provide basic maintenance knowledge on standard vehicles and tow trucks as needed.
  • Partner with the operations and auction teams to support event logistics and special transportation needs.
  • Analyze transportation data to recommend cost-saving measures and process improvements.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in transportation management, preferably in the automotive or auction industry.
  • Strong understanding of transportation logistics, including shipping regulations, routing, and vehicle handling.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team of drivers or transportation staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities effectively.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the auto auction or automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with managing fleet operations and overseeing vehicle upkeep.

 

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Based on experience. Eligible for merit increases at the end of the year.
  • Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance, Paid time off.

 

Work Requirements

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift (no weekends).
  • Location: Must commute to or relocate to Fairview, PA 16415 before starting.
  • Work Location: On-site only.
