PCB SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - (for Printed Circuit Boards)

Primary Job Purpose:
Lead Supplier Development of existing and New PCB suppliers
Work with cross functional teams (design, category, engineering and PLPL) to define best PCB solution and suppliers for products in design
Assess new technologies in the industry; to ensure suppliers properly validate new processes and technologies for use in automotive electronics
Manage / interface with Supplier Quality Engineers to support APTIV manufacturing sites on Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) major Quality issues.
Directly interface with suppliers to resolve complex issues impacting OEM failures and/or field actions.

Major Accountabilities:
SDE
- Lead Supplier Development of PCB suppliers
- Work with product design teams for Best PCB solution
- Assess and approve PCB technology changes at suppliers.
- Monitor key PCB suppliers performance and drive continuous improvement activities
- Lead PCB problem resolution activities with supplier on complex issues
- Support customer communication when required
Conduct PCB Safe Launch for Critical PCBs in New Programs
General
- Identify training needs and grow competency
- Manage competency to achieve excellence
- Special assignments as needed
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS & ABILITY:
Key Required Qualification
4 years technical degree (Bachelor Degree) with 8 - 10 years of relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree (Master or PHD) with 5 - 6 years of relevant experience
Other Skills
Work experience in PCB fabrication
Structured problem solving capability
Understanding of automotive requirements for PCB
Ability to effectively communicate complex issues
Ability to travel 30% of the time
Able to cope with new / difficult / additional responsibility with short notice
Functions independently without supervision and technical guidance
Able to develop and motivate people
Able to lead teams with other APTIV Departments / Divisions
Able to set priorities and adjust workload within the group
Advanced SPC techniques
Presentation skills
Ability to facilitate conflict situations with peers independently
Ability to effectively organize and plan
Highly proficient in print reading and interpretation of specification
Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
Innovation in solving complex quality problems
Strong knowledge of purchasing and engineering systems associated with part readiness

Demonstrate and able to train others on relevant Purchasing procedures and knowledge of relevant corporate procedure and knowledge of all Purchasing procedures
Preferred Qualification
6 Sigma Certified
IATF / VDA 6.3 Certified Auditor
