TEAM OVERVIEW:

Applied Materials' Service Department is searching for an intern to join our team in Summer 2025! The position requires implementing, deploying, maintaining, evaluating, and benchmarking machine learning and software ideas and techniques that differentiate Applied Service offerings using semiconductor process data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop code to automate tool service package analytics
  • Apply existing and novel machine learning techniques, including LLM, to critical service issues to improve productivity and lower cost
  • Develop Python scripts to implement key concepts.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Knowledge and application of statistical / data science techniques, including both conventional Machine Learning, i.e., decision trees, regression, and deep learning
  • Experience and fundamental understanding of AI architectures and principles, including Generative AI
  • Python programming experience
  • Familiarity with Generative AI data and Algo structures, e.g., PyTorch, Llama3, etc...
  • Proficient in general programming principles.

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION:

  • Student must be pursuing a Master's degree program in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Quick learner
  • Ability to present and communicate to technical audiences

COMPENSATION

$31-36 per hour

The rate offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and education level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
