Description
We seek to hire a Patent Attorney or Patent Agent to assist in developing and curating the company's health and wellness patent portfolio. You will work with the business to build and purposefully prosecute the associated worldwide patent portfolio. This includes identifying patentable inventions; securing high-quality, strategic patent assets; providing expert technical and legal analysis; handling patent challenges; providing guidance in support of patent transactions and licensing matters; assigning and managing work performed by outside law firms; and working with engineering and other business organizations to understand priorities and challenges. This position also will provide cross-functional support for acquisition due diligence, IP licensing and transactions, enforcement, and litigation activities.
- Registered Patent Attorney or Patent Agent.
- USPTO Registration and BS degree in a technical field such as biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or physics required.
- 5+ years drafting and prosecuting patent assets, managing portfolios, developing patent strategies, conducting patent analysis, and providing support for licensing, transactions, and litigation efforts.
- Experience with health and wellness technologies and/or medical devices.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- JD and at least one state bar admission.
- 5+ years of relevant experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Familiarity with FDA and international regulatory processes and their interplay with patents.
- Experience with electronic hardware, software, and AIML technologies.
- Familiarity with post issuance challenge proceedings in the US and internationally.
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $221,600 and $333,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
