Description
The Applied Sensing & Health team is seeking a ResearchOps scientist to join our dynamic team to build next generation health, wellness, fitness, and safety features that improve people's lives. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for designing innovative studies - from small, focused data collections to large-scale worldwide operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams across Apple and external partners to execute research initiatives, analyzing data to gain insights, defining and validating study KPIs, and communicating findings in our multidisciplinary team. You will play a critical role in optimizing research processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring the smooth execution of research studies. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail and the ability to anticipate challenges before they arise. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities effectively, and works collaboratively within a team. Core responsibilities include: -Driving strategy, design, and execution of research studies across the Apple device ecosystem -Carrying out the full life cycle of high impact research, including designing protocols, selecting and managing vendors, executing data collection efforts, and analyzing study data in a timely and cost effective manner. -Collaborating with internal and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and constraints of research initiatives -Working closely with scientists and researchers to monitor data, identify issues, and drive mitigations and fixes -Analyzing large and targeted datasets to pull out meaningful insights that inform decision-making. -Anticipating potential challenges, identifying and troubleshooting issues promptly and effectively, and developing preventative measures. Identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies in workflows and develop and implement solutions to improve research operations efficiency and productivity -Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Deep subject matter expertise in designing, building, executing, and analyzing human-centered research to enable the development of health, wellness, fitness, and safety features.
- Extensive experience in creating comprehensive study documentation, managing reviews with study review boards and IRBs, and ensuring compliance with data governance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Proven ability to simplify complex concepts and effectively communicating such concepts
- Strong technical skills with the ability to analyze sensor and study data, understand algorithm designs and challenges, and passion to turn data into actionable insights that drive product insights.
- Proficient at identifying deficiencies in processes and ability to drive change to improve such processes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact.
- Proven ability to identify and solve complex problems
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in research operations to enable the building and shipping of technical, user-friendly products in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent programming skills with a scientific computing language (for ex. Matlab or Python)
- Independent self-starter who thrives in complex and ambiguous environments, and is able to rapidly optimize across many variables to drive to the best decisions
- Fast learner of complex hardware and software systems and unfamiliar technologies
- Enthusiasm and interest in the intersection of technology with health, wellness, fitness, and safety products
- Experience in designing, building, and executing regulatory studies is a plus.
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $136,300 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
