Summary / Role Purpose
The Lead R&D Engineer drives the design and development of software products and supporting systems. This role leverages the individual's expertise to develop strategic plans, refine requirements and provide technical leadership in achieving development objectives. This signal integrity virtual compliance position is seeking a candidate with significant experience simulating high-speed serial and parallel interfaces in PCBs, IC packages or interposers. The individual will guide the development of next-generation virtual compliance sign-off tools by researching electrical specifications published by the various governing bodies (JEDEC, PCI-SIG, etc.) and distilling actionable software development guidelines. Coordinating with Ansys application and quality assurance engineers, the individual will also be responsible for the expert-level testing of virtual compliance solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads planning, architecture, or research at a project level
- Coordinates product design and development activities requiring extensive analysis in areas such as user experience, software design and solver research. Acts as a technical reference within a group or product
- Develops and employs best practices and maintains them through technical reviews and mentoring
- Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support across multiple products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions, collaborating with the QA/support team
- Researches and understands the marketing requirements for products, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions
- Operates without direct supervision and may function as a team leader, project manager, or software architect
- May be responsible for line management of a small technical team, but primary duties are of an individual technical nature
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's/PhD degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8/6/4 years' experience respectively
- Significant knowledge of high-speed signal integrity concepts and associated simulation challenges
- Experience simulating modern serial and/or parallel interfaces (HDMI, PCIe, UCIe, USB, (LP)DDR4/5, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge and commercial experience with PCIe (or comparable SERDES interface) or JEDEC DDR (or comparable parallel interface) compliance testing
- Knowledge of Siemens HyperLynx, Mathworks, or Keysight virtual compliance solutions
- Working knowledge and experience with Python and C/C++ with relevant math libraries (e.g. numpy, boost) on both Windows and Linux platforms.
- Ability to translate business needs into development plans
- Ability to overcome obstacles and drive projects to completion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and geographies, and to mentor junior developers
