Associate Legal Assistant (Primarily Home)

Madison, WI / Remote

This position performs specialized support and administrative duties. The support duties require trust, loyalty, judgment, initiative, confidentiality, and knowledge of responsibilities associated with litigation handled on behalf of our insureds and the company.

Position Compensation Range:
$23.00 - $33.17

Pay Rate Type:
Hourly

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Perform data entry, collection of information, and review of initial materials for intake and setup of new matters.
  • Search systems and documents to enter in file information
  • Knowledge of electronic legal database and claim management system to support file handler.

  • Perform tasks related to payments and closing files.
  • Help answer job related questions.
  • Coordinate collection of claim information to respond to inquiries from other divisions.
  • Perform research and prepare background information.
  • Receive and respond to all types of inquiries and relay messages.
  • You will organize, coordinate, and perform administrative workflow and processing tasks, and understanding of the stages of litigation and the types of legal documents within litigation.
  • Generate different types of legal and claims correspondence, and documents.
  • Participate in projects and committees.
  • Help train unit employees.
  • Administer specific divisional programs, working with vendors and conducts special project work as assigned.
  • Maintain and update procedural documents and divisional contact information within systems for the division.

  • Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
    • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
    • Demonstrated experience performing legal support duties.
    • Demonstrated experience working with confidential documents and situations.
    • Demonstrated experience with various PC software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
    • Demonstrated experience writing and proofreading legal documents for proper grammar and spelling.
    • Solid knowledge and understanding of legal procedures, legal terminology, and the judicial system.
    • Solid knowledge and understanding of legal ethics rules and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

    In this primarily home-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius (or 35-mile radius for Boston) or one of the following locations: Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110; Denver, CO 80112; Eden Prairie, MN 55343; Keene, NH 03431; St. Joseph, MO 64507; Phoenix, AZ 85034; Nashville, TN 37214

    On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events.
