Role Designation: Hybrid

Allstate Canada Group is hiring a Payroll Manager to lead payroll and employment support services. This role is responsible for managing a team and overseeing the administration of payroll programs, policies, procedures, and vendor relationships.

The responsibilities will also include but not limited to:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll, ensuring compliance with government regulations, company policies, and timely processing of payroll, funding, and tax filings.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all payroll matters in Canada, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Handle payroll taxes, wage garnishments, employee deductions, and ensure payroll data aligns with general ledger and financial systems.
  • Oversee payroll audits, month-end reconciliations, and approve payroll adjustments, ensuring accurate records for government reporting and compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partner Team, Talent Acquisition, Finance, People Analytics, Technology Enablement, and Legal to ensure seamless payroll operations and compliance with employee benefits, bonuses, and compensation adjustments.
  • Lead change management initiatives related to payroll processes and system enhancements, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption.
  • Manage Workday Payroll and ADP relationships, proactively addressing technology and process-related issues while identifying opportunities for payroll process improvements.
  • Lead payroll system improvements, ensuring compliance with SOX, legislation, and internal audits, and develop process documentation for key stakeholders.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports for leadership, maintain audit readiness, and ensure backup support for payroll team during absences.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Finance, or a related field.
  • 6+ years working in an automated payroll environment managing multi-province payroll and 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Workday Payroll and ADP knowledge is considered a strong asset.
  • PCP or CPM designation are required.
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation in Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.
  • Proven experience with process improvement, change management, and implementing best practices.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to lead payroll-related changes and improvements while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
