Job Description

Alion Science and Technology is looking for a Virtualization/VDI Engineer to support the B-21 Strike Systems Program Office located at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma.

Candidate shall have the following qualifications:

  • Migrate desktops and relevant applications to the new on premise cloud based Virtual Desktop infrastructure
  • Performs day-to-day activities required to administer VDI in support of end-users. Create and deploy application packages to VDI users
  • Compile lists of applications and package the applications to be deployed in an VDI environment
  • Install, update, patch and uninstall custom and off the shelf application
  • Assists in ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures
  • Assist in the design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation of new software and enhancements of existing applications.
  • Work with project managers, developers, and end users to ensure system designs meet business requirements
  • Integrate new and modify major physical/virtual desktop images to create a baseline for deployment to client's physical/virtual workstations) that are Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliant, and to ensure compliance with DoD Secure Host Baseline (SHB) mandates and proper operation of applications, software, and IT systems.
  • Develop Image Release Test Plan, which will be provided to client's Test Environment prior to release to the Production Environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assigned Service Level III IRs and SRs regarding image.
  • Provide written technical specifications for end user computing devices projected for use by the client.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the Windows and Linux concepts, Domains, Active Directory and its concepts, and the interaction between hardware, operating systems, network, data center and application software.
  • Advanced understanding of Active Directory and Group Policies, Network principles and technologies, Server and Shared Storage architectures, Windows and Linux operating systems, virtualization (VMware) and cloud technologies and containers and orchestration platforms. Understanding of hyper converged deployments and vSAN administration
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships
