Job Description

Seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to support the US Army's Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) Electrical Storage Lab (ESL) in the development of advanced battery systems for military ground vehicles.

General Responsibilities:

Assigned Project from Team Leader

  • Engage customer engineer and develop technical proposal
    • Cost
    • Schedule
    • Technical requirements (fixtures/instrumentation/system modifications)
    • Communicate requirements to staff
  • Create Test Plan and conduct readiness review
    • Fixture design and order
    • Modified cost
    • Modified schedule
    • Test Protocol/Procedures development
    • Instrumentation verification
  • Lead and guide DE2/3 Technicians through test set up troubleshooting during test start up.
  • Monitor test execution, provide customer updates
  • Have and use appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Provide daily/weekly report updates to Customer
  • Test Incident Reports

GENERAL DUTIES
  • Adhere to lab processes and procedures and comply to ISO17025 requirements and Initiate calibration schedules for test system (Cal POC)
  • Maintain relationships with all assigned customers and attend engineering meetings to develop future test efforts
  • Develop technical proposals for all assigned projects which include a summary of cost, schedule, and customer defined requirements
  • Develop test plans and lab test agreements; Obtain customer and team leader concurrence prior to start of all tests
  • Develop customer updates, test incident reports, daily/weekly report and test reports in order to continually communicate with assigned customers
  • Lead all project actions including verification of equipment readiness, calibration, documentation, setup, execution, and reporting
  • Manage proper storage of all project data in accordance with GSPEL procedures
  • Maintain close working relationship with engineering and management personnel within the government and at other commercial facilities to provide advice and assistance, resolve problems, and exchange information
  • Develop and ensure test methods, work instructions, and engineering standards used are current (QC)
  • Maintain equipment capability documents
  • Comply with the EMS ISO 14001 standard
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Work in Energy Storage Laboratory (ESL):
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, electrical, mechanical, computer, material engineering, or similar discipline.
  • At least 3 years of engineering experience or a bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 5 years of battery test laboratory experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and as needed, create schematics and drawings
  • Ability to quickly and independently teach oneself aspects of multiple engineering disciplines
  • Capable of Managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical details, both written and oral
  • Ability to interpret, identify, and summarize trends in large sets of data across multiple data files
  • Previous knowledge of operation of A&D and Bitrodebattery test software or the ability to learn these software systems within the first 3months of employment
  • Ability to anticipate and account for all battery behavior
  • Ability to lead and direct others within a team
  • Take vague objectives and convert into detailed test programs
  • Work within a team of technicians and engineers
  • Work effectively with minimum oversight
  • Mentor other engineers and technicians

The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a SECRET clearance.
