The Chief of Staff reports directly to the CEO and plays a critical role in managing corporate operations, refining enterprise strategy, and actioning executive priorities. This role is a trusted advisor to the CEO and top executives in facilitating effective discussions, structuring problems, and driving results. The Chief of Staff also works directly with the Chief Operating Officer to execute these key responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES OF CHIEF OF STAFF:

• Lead material creation for CEO's and COO's monthly and quarterly reporting commitments (e.g., Alcon Executive Leadership team and meetings, Board of Directors, key events) in strong coordination with functions providing content

• Support functions in preparation for key presentations (e.g., Board of Directors), ensuring high quality storylines and frameworks, consistent messages across presentations, and timeliness

• Drive operational efficiency and focus at the enterprise level by managing agendas for key meetings, guiding presenters in standards and deadlines, and ensuring action items are completed

• Collaborate with functions to drive strategic priorities, through direct and indirect influencing

• Act as thought partner to the CEO, COO, and other leaders across Alcon

• Lead setting of annual strategic priorities at the enterprise level, to then be cascaded into the organization

• Support functions on structuring problems, planning, and setting recommendations

• Lead special projects at the request of the CEO and/or COO

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; Ph.D/M.D. +3 yrs)

• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

• 10 Years of Relevant Experience

• Work hours: Standard

• Travel Requirements: 10-20%, international and domestic

HOW YOU CAN THRIVE AT ALCON:

• Prior experience as a project leader or beyond at a top-tier management consulting firm, in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry, having ideally been exposed to ophthalmology or eye care

• Very strong intellectual capacity, with proven ability to work on many different topics in parallel and prioritize effectively (distinguishing urgency and importance)

• Excellent conceptual and analytical skills with a track record of synthesizing, structuring, and preparing communication materials for senior executives (including excellent PowerPoint skills)

• High emotional intelligence as reflected by excellent social and interpersonal skills, a deep sense of self-awareness, and humility

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across a global, matrixed company

• Adaptable communication skills, including seamlessly translating messages, details, and actions to the appropriate altitude for a given audience

• Excellent project and process management skills (e.g., at times might coordinate as many as 10-15 different documents in parallel, incorporating input from many sources)

• Excellent ability to quickly learn complex topics and identify value drivers

• Very high attention to detail (without losing sight of the big picture) to ensure highest quality output at all times

• Organizational skills, results orientation, collaboration and influencing abilities, business acumen, and the utmost level of integrity (including management of highly confidential information)

• An advanced degree (MBA, JD, MD, and/or PhD)
