In this role you will ensure that Adyen’s tax compliance and related processes for the Latin American region (Brazil & Mexico) are compliant, in control and well set up for our continued growth and global expansion. The successful candidate will be proactive, practical, eager to grow and gain a lot of energy from improving, automating and scaling. You have an affinity with data & technology and utilize it for coming up with solutions. 

You will report to the Global Head of Tax and be part of the global tax team, which is made up of colleagues in Indirect Tax, Wage Tax, North America Tax, Tax Data & Technology, International Tax & Transfer Pricing.

The hiring location for this role is Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We are open to relocate. Alternatively, our Sao Paulo office in Brazil is also something we’re willing to consider as the hiring location.

What you’ll do

  • Guide Adyen successfully through the tax compliance complexity in Brazil & Mexico and help us to become even more compliant and in control in the region
  • Lead the tax compliance processes from end to end, ensuring efficient and accurate completion of tax returns and compliance with Brazil & Mexico tax legislation
  • Review & sign off of tax returns
  • Deal and assist with tax audits, as and when they arise
  • Develop a vision and come up with a strategy to make our tax compliance processes more efficient
  • Translate the vision and strategy into actionable steps and lead the implementation thereof
  • Successfully partner up with the financial control & accounting team and create a bridge between tax and this team 
  • Assist Adyen with successful implementation of the Brazilian tax reform
  • Interact with stakeholders across multiple functions and regions mostly within Group Finance to ensure an efficient and effective collaboration

Who you are

  • You have a deep understanding of Brazilian tax legislation 
  • You have proven experience in a Brazilian tax (compliance) role 
  • You have a mindset of constantly improving, automating and scaling
  • You’ve affinity with data and tax technology and use this to come up with solutions
  • You’re not afraid to think out-of-the box and are able to come up with creative solutions
  • You’re a go-getter, take ownership and are not afraid of doing the work yourself and do things outside your comfort zone
  • You thrive in a rapidly-changing environment and have a growth mindset
  • In-house experience, and an exposure to the digital economy/financial institutions is a plus
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese is mandatory
