As a Software Engineer II, you will take ownership of medium to large-scale systems, frameworks, and products within the Communication Platform team. You will work independently while knowing when to collaborate and validate your logic. Your role will involve the full development lifecycle, ensuring that deliverables are on time, impactful, and aligned with customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable communication systems using Java, PostgreSQL, and Kafka.
  • Own and optimize message delivery mechanisms, ensuring efficiency and performance.
  • Implement and improve monitoring, alerts, and dashboards using Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced engineers through various development stages.
  • Identify and address technical debt while balancing priorities effectively.
  • Ensure solutions are elegant, avoiding unnecessary complexity and operational overhead.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance communication flows, including APIs for external integrations.

About the Communication Platform Team

The Communication Platform enables scalable and efficient communication between Adyen and its customers, including merchant users and internal teams. The team is responsible for:

  • Asynchronous message delivery (emails, notifications) via Kafka queues.
  • Managing the status page for merchant communications.
  • Sending real-time notifications in the Customer Area.
  • Providing APIs for teams to integrate messaging into their workflows.
  • Standardizing and improving communication processes.
