As Sr. Director, Tax - Audit & Finance, you will lead a team of PEO Tax and Audit associates within the TotalSource Tax Operations team to ensure that all employment tax liabilities with local, state, and federal taxing jurisdictions are accurately accounted for, reconciled, and audited. You will supervise the day-to-day work of Tax and Audit Associates, including delivering periodic performance feedback and performance evaluations. Additionally, you will evaluate results to determine if performance objectives are being met and take steps to remedy deficiencies.

In this role, you will establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with state and federal taxing authorities in coordination with internal agency relations and legal teams. You will also consult with taxing authorities regarding tax liabilities, reporting, and audits to resolve any outstanding issues and lead a team that assists external auditors with company, or client-specific inquiries related to employment taxes. Additional responsibilities include coordinating the delivery of document requests during audits and ensuring all employer tax and claims fiduciary, compliance and operational requirements are met.

What you'll do:

Here's what you can expect on a typical day:

  • Provide financial guidance for employer tax costs based on annual forecasts, additional tax assessments, voluntary contribution analysis, and market changes.
  • Collaborate with finance executives to allocate unemployment and other employer tax costs.
  • Manage tax compliance and unemployment claims expenses and product budget.
  • Lead team that establishes and enforces SUI risk tiers to maintain entity experience and strategic objectives.
  • Provide leadership for associate relations through effective communication.
  • Ensure the assessment of management talent through proper succession planning programs so that key contributors are prepared for more significant responsibilities.
  • Use strategic objectives as the basis for establishing performance management and incentive programs for leaders and other incentive-based plans.
  • Remain current on developments in employer tax regarding tax and claim law changes and how they will impact clients' and ADP TotalSource's tax accounts and services.
  • Analyze and interpret new legislation and market trends. Communicate the ramifications to area leaders, business partners, sales, and clients.

Experience. You have 12+ years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or similar role, including 3+ years of Leader of Leaders experience.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

  • Public accounting experience.
  • Employer Tax or Audit experience.
  • Experience presenting to senior leaders.
  • Experience managing a team and developing leaders.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to direct and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and risk management skills.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills. Experience in training industry peers, tax, sales, and service associates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successful stakeholder engagement. Skilled with communicating effectively to all levels of internal and external contacts verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled at assessing team members' performance and providing motivational support.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • You will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

For additional comfortability in the role:

  • Advanced knowledge of functional area and related company products
  • PMP or equivalent professional project management certification
  • Master's degree
