Manager - Digital, Biopharma Dev & Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC)

ZS is looking for an experienced team member that brings pharmaceutical drug development and tech transfer knowledge with a focus on digital transformation in this space. The primary responsibility of this role is to support business development, POV and asset creation, and project delivery in the pharmaceutical CMC development area for ZS Supply Chain and Manufacturing clients. This includes serving as a subject matter expert on drug substance and drug product process development and developmental sciences in client discussions, managing teams and projects, and contributing to Supply Chain and Manufacturing practice development.

What You'll Do

  • Have a significant direct client interaction, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Deeply understand client's business challenges and provide thought leadership in addressing issues. Work proactively to bring the best of ZS expertise to the client(s).
  • Provide project leadership and direction on one or more projects while maintaining a high-quality level of service
  • Lead delivery of projects and programs, taking full accountability and ownership of delivery including:
    • Developing client relationships by bringing new ideas around latest trends, outlook for continuous improvement, and capabilities to our clients.
    • Coordinating with clients to manage delivery expectations.
    • Working with clients to develop roadmaps, strategies, and implementation plans.
    • Supporting solution design in partnership with clients and senior leadership.
    • Organizing global teams to deliver solutions and outcomes effectively and efficiently.
    • Managing program/project status, risks and issues, and financials.
  • Identify latest digital trends and domain trends to develop ZS POVs/assets and drive innovative solutions for our clients.
  • Identify and drive opportunities of selling additional work to client. Update senior leaders, prepare and present compelling and creative client presentations.
  • Coach the cross-functional project team on the business perspective and strategic imperatives to inform key project decisions.
  • Collaborate with other ZS internal expertise teams to ensure best in class thought leadership and solution delivery.
  • Mentor, develop and motivate ZS teams and people; Lead by example.

What You'll Bring

  • B.S. or M.S. (with at least 10 years of experience) or Ph.D. (with at least 8 years of experience) in Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent STEM degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a pharmaceutical biopharma dev / CMC organization with hands on experience leading digital transformation initiatives.
  • Hands on experience with at least one of the functions in CMC development such as Process Chemistry, Process Engineering, Formulation, and Analytical Chemistry.
  • Knowledge of key concepts including unit operations, processes, quality by design (QbD), tech transfer, process validation, quality attributes, and regulatory milestones across pharma development.
  • Understanding of the different data and information systems such as ELN, LIMS, ERP systems, and LCM or PLM systems.
  • Understanding of the CMC related regulatory submission requirements.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong client presence and ability to communicate verbally and in writing complex domain concepts to all audiences.
  • Significant supervisory, coaching and hands-on project management skills.
  • Ability to manage a virtual global team environment that contributes to the overall timely delivery of multiple projects.
  • Willingness to travel to other global offices as needed to work with client or other internal project teams.
  • In-silico, digital twin, and/or modeling experience.
