Our Industrial Design team is responsible for shaping the look and feel of Zoox's revolutionary vehicle and hardware products. Working in close collaboration with our engineering, product, and manufacturing partners, we leverage human-centered design principles to create solutions that are as beautiful as they are functional.

As a Digital Modeler on our Industrial Design team, you will be a key contributor to the development of Zoox's groundbreaking vehicle and hardware products. You will leverage your exceptional digital 3D modeling, technical process and automotive development know-how to transform our design concepts into real products.

In this role, you will...

  • Conceptual Development: Collaborate with designers to bring design concepts to life through digital surface development.
  • Technical Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate conceptual design technical input into production design surfaces.
  • Production Analysis: Evaluate design concepts for feasibility, surface quality, and manufacturability, providing recommendations for optimization.
  • Manage the release of digital surface data and coordinate the necessary engineering part release approvals in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database.
  • Documentation: Maintain digital surface documentation related to surface development and program requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in automotive design and engineering to drive innovation and improve processes.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and cross-functional partners to drive an innovative mindset to support automotive design development.
  • Support and perform surface quality evaluations.


  • Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in automotive design and engineering, with a strong focus on automotive prototype, advanced design development and production development.
  • Degree in industrial design, transportation design, mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in Alias software and automotive industry surface design best practices from concept to Class-A.
  • Experience with PLM systems and design release processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive design studio and engineering processes and workflows.
  • Familiarity with automotive safety standards and regulations.


  • Compensation

    There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $159,000 to $229,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.

    Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
