In Monetization Engineering, our teams build software to monetize premium products at Zillow Group. Our software handles over $1B each year, and our projects typically have a multi-million dollar impact-delivering with both speed and quality is paramount. We collaborate closely and integrate our systems with teams that own premium product delivery, frontline sales tools, and back office finance capabilities. Together with our partners, we strive to build an integrated buying experience for our suite of agent solutions.

About the role
As a TPM, you will act as both the glue and the grease between our Product Management and Engineering teams. You will become an expert on the suite of monetization capabilities we are crafting. You will use that expertise to manage the lifecycle and execution of some of our largest and most critical initiatives across multiple teams. You will facilitate teamwork, cross-functional communication, and engineering efficiency.
As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will:
- Support multiple engineering teams that drive full stack development of tools, systems, and applications
- Collaborate across team and organizational boundaries including acting as a liaison for engineering with partners in Product Management, Design, UX Research, Marketing, and more
- Develop detailed technical project plans and drive the execution until completion
- Maintain and report on project status, identify risks and gaps, and seek opportunities to optimize timely delivery of projects
- Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, balance business needs versus technical constraints and refine scope to deliver the best product possible on schedule
- Engage leadership effectively when needed and find a path forward in difficult situations
- Make trade-offs between short-term needs vs. long-term needs
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $145,500.00 - $232,500.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in software program management, leading medium to large scale projects across five or more cross-functional teams in mid-size or large companies to successful and timely completion
- Familiarity with current web development technologies, distributed architecture, and agile development methodology
- Ability to proactively identify dependencies/risks and work with your engineering counterparts to mitigate these
- Comfortable interacting with a diverse set of technical and non-technical team members
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements and prioritize tasks
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Subject matter expertise in ecommerce, finance, software quality, or reliability engineering
- You possess a strong program management background and have well-rounded technical skills in system design using current web technologies
- A hands-on "do-er", which means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level critical initiatives, but you can also roll up your sleeves, dig in, and get the job done
- Highly analytical, deeply detail oriented, and lead with maturity and emotional intelligence
