We partner closely with teams across the company to analyze and implement opportunities to drive incremental revenue and cost savings. We provide key insights from Zillow's unparalleled living database of over 100 million homes, transactions, and users.
As a Data Scientist, you will work in an informal, fun, collaborative atmosphere with a dynamic team and will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of Zillow.

Zillow is looking for a Data Scientist who has a passion for building novel analytical frameworks, models, and visualizations. We are always looking for ways to better measure our business and steer our lines of business towards profitability.

You Will Get To:
- Discover insights in diverse data sets to contextualize the business as well as develop statistical models and techniques.
- Apply your analytical toolkit to a host of problems ranging from impact analysis, performance attribution, segmentation, and pricing.
- Measure the impact of housing market trends on business outcomes and financial performance.
- Assist the business in optimizing policies through the design of experimental and observational interventions to measure impact.
- Collaborate with other data scientists, applied scientists, and economists to translate business opportunities into well-defined technical problems and conduct cutting-edge applied research.
- Develop clear data visualizations that crystallize the key messages from analyses.
- Communicate complex statistical models and analyses clearly to wide audiences.
This role has been categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any part of Mexico, but preferably in Mexico City, as we would encourage attendance for occasional in-office events.
In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.
Who you are
- An innovative problem solver that is passionate about conducting independent research and applying research methods to real-world problems.
- Strong foundation in traditional econometric approaches, statistical methods, and/or modern machine learning techniques from schooling or industry experience.
- Proficient in data cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering for statistical analysis.
- Proficient in data visualization and data storytelling.
- Strong coding skills, with experience in software development best practices and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, data science, economics, statistics, finance, engineering, analytics, or similar)
- 1-2 years of experience with quantitative data analysis and complex problem solving
- 1-2 years of experience sharing data insights and creating data visualizations with software like Tableau or similar
- Proficiency in SQL
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and modeling
- Experience with building, scheduling, and productionalizing ETL pipelines
