To achieve our vision, we are searching for a talented Associate Director of Specialty with a Bachelor’s degree, and at least 5 years of experience. The ideal candidate will be passionate about equitable access to world-class learning opportunities for specialty. The Zeta specialty program is a cornerstone of our next-generation school design that engages students in whole child learning through participation in specialty programs such as Taekwondo, dance, soccer, chess, art, basketball, volleyball and more.

Specialty activities are the mechanism for students to come to know and challenge themselves. Through specialty activities, students express their sense of self long before they can articulate this sense with words. It is where work is play, where students are willing to put in more work than they might otherwise in pursuit of their goals and of excellence. Big obstacles become fun to tackle; students then learn to think critically about problems, to be creative, to innovate, to problem-solve, to stop at nothing to reach their aims. They learn and practice grit over and over again. Their identity begins to form around these efforts and resultant accomplishments, and they develop character and confidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Zeta specialty programming across our schools
  • Create specialty processes to ensure high-quality learning experiences that enable students to explore their passions
  • Design systems with a high level of attention to detail to ensure that all students receive excellent specialty programming
  • Manage after school programming to ensure learning continues beyond the school day
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve processes and systems to create increasingly higher quality learning experiences
  • Collaborate effectively with external vendors as needed to ensure high-quality experiences that ensure specialty learning expands beyond our schools
  • Develop authentic and meaningful relationships with Zeta staff to support growth in service of student learning
  • Wear multiple hats as a part of a lean startup-up team, supporting the work of others on the team and taking on new projects and tasks as needed
