Objective of job (abbreviated)

  • Govern, design, plan and implement technology solution standards covering SAP Basis, SAP support products (SAP products, HANA, SuSE Linux)
  • Build solutions for the end-to-end life-cycle support of the above mentioned products with the support of external vendors (Project management, Problem management, Security review of audit logs for SAP, EWA reports reviews, Monitoring, Routine activities of SAP system administration, Reporting)
  • Follow the agreed global MB SAP standard Architecture, design, performance optimized, security adhering SAP implementations and ensuring that this is followed including life cycle management
  • To evaluate and recommend potential value-add technologies in SAP, other integrated areas, to customers which can enrich their services to markets
  • Escalation point-of-contact for all SAP projects and issues
  • Strengthen relations with customers and vendors through regular interaction to acquire a wholistic view of the roadmap ahead
  • Includes driving life-cycle for the said technology products and project management. Ex: Ensure project management, scheduling, installation and review of logs for audit of these technology products with the support of external service providers or directly if situation requires/failure by vendor services.

Task description

SAP Basis Team: Projects and Administration (Plan and Build)
  • Work with customers during the requirements gathering phase to understand the scope of work and technical needs
  • Pass the information and knowledge to the team members to help them perform the tasks in a quality manner
  • Defined timelines and ensure projects are completed on time and handle escalations if the projects cross the defined timelines
  • Provide expert level guidance, and solutions when needed by any of the team members
  • Evaluate new solutions based on the current challenges from customers
  • Allocation of personnel to projects and to support the technical activities
  • Identify areas of improvements by working with the customers and improve the service provided continually
  • Perform frequent team review meetings to highlight gaps, address issues, and seek new ideas which can be implemented as value-adds
  • Support management for queries on project status, provide reporting
  • Ensure that the team is compliant with the Organizational policies and procedure

Lead and Plan: Innovation
  • Dive into the latest technologies in SAP, and other related areas (Databases, Operating systems, Security) which could prove beneficial to our customers
  • Identify which technologies are beneficial, and are in-line with Client roadmap for the future
  • Perform Proof of concepts to learn, and demonstrate the benefits of the technology
  • Document procedures, operational manuals
  • Educate the team about the concepts, architecture, and beneftis
  • Present the proof of concepts to management and come up with a plan to roll-out to customers
  • Responsible to handover opeerations after go-lives, to the operations teams

Operational Topics: Accountability
  • Ensure that the operations tasks are handled as per the agreed processes and SLAs' by the operations teams
  • Report the operations gaps which arise in SAP Basis administration area
  • Escalation point of contact for all SAP Basis related issues, and projects
  • Educate and mentor the team to design, and build efficient and optimal solutions
  • Share knowledge which are niche with the team by conducting sessions and meetings
  • Review EarlyWatch Alert reports and work with the operations team to fix the critical findings
  • Ensure all SAP systems are under monitoring
  • Ensure all SAP systems are protected by regular backups

Continuous Improvement
  • Interact regularly with customers and stakeholders to understand their future requirements and assist if and where necessary
  • Provide regular updates to the customers if there have been delays in addressing issues/projects
  • Being proactive and responsible as the face of ITI/XM to customers
  • Meet with the service providers regularly to acquire knowledge about new technologies in the area of Infrastructure Innovations
  • Work towards solutions for the various challenging SAP requirements to achieve cost reduction, without compromising on the quality of service that the Infrastructure can provide
