Role Description:
- The M365 Technical Consultant will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of an M365 tenant-to-tenant migration, with a specific focus on driving migration strategy and ensuring migration readiness. It will support all workstreams while working closely with the Migration Manager, Change Manger and Hypercare Lead.

M365 Consultant will be a go-to technical authority on M365 migration matters, with a deep understanding of M365 workloads, user migration processes, and post-migration support. This role will also have responsibilities for creating key migration documentation (e.g. user guides, KB articles, etc.).
Responsibilities:
- Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for all M365 workloads, providing guidance on technical solutions, tools, and processes to ensure successful migration and adoption.
- Collaborate with other members of the migration project team to implement the cutover strategy.
- Engage in and support the migration preparation work, including mailbox batching, data transfer validation, and issue resolution.
- Provide a higher technical escalation point within the project for hypercare team, supporting troubleshooting and resolution.
- Help with the development of key migration materials, such as; cutover guides, runbooks, end-user guides, KBs and FAQs to assist in post-migration support.
- Escalate to external vendors (e.g. Microsoft) to resolve complex technical issues (e.g. cross-tenant access).
- Track and report on migration progress, identifying potential risks and ensuring technical readiness at each milestone.
- Provide ongoing training and knowledge transfer to internal teams (service desk, support, etc.).
- Participate in change management efforts to ensure quality comms and end-user engagement, or webinar hosting.
Key Skills:
- Deep technical knowledge of all primary M365 workloads.
- Proficiency with migration tools for tenant-to-tenant migrations.
- PowerShell skills for automating M365 and Azure AD tasks.
- Experience in being in a senior position within technical teams, supporting escalations, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Expertise in creating and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across primary M365 workloads.
- Experience working with third-party vendors (e.g. Quest, Microsoft).
Experience:
- Experience of working in multiple previous Microsoft 365 migrations. [Desirable] if migrations were also tenant-to-tenant projects.
- Knowledge base within M365 services (e.g. EXO, SPO, Od4B, Teams, Power Platform [Desirable], etc.)
- Deep knowledge of end-user ramifications of similar changes.
- Familiarity with Quest on Demand [Desirable] or similar tooling.
- Proven experience with similar migration project engagement.
- Direct experience with migration planning, execution, batching strategies for large user groups (e.g. shared data).
- Familiarity with M365 security configurations [Desirable].
- Experience working in environments where security is a consideration [Desirable].
- Proven ability conduct knowledge transfer within migration team.
