The external communications manager for Europe and Americas will be responsible for managing day-to-day planning, organization and execution of public relations activities, including the development and dissemination of press releases, blogs, social posts; managing all aspects of media relations planning and strategy development; preparation of executives in advance of media interviews; building and maintaining media relationships with key reporters, as well as managing media lists, editorial calendars, and managing tracking and reporting.

This person will report into the head of external communications for Europe and Americas and will be based out of India.

Job Description

The external communications manager for Europe and Americas will be responsible for managing day-to-day planning, organization and execution of public relations activities, including the development and dissemination of press releases, blogs, social posts; managing all aspects of media relations planning and strategy development; preparation of executives in advance of media interviews; building and maintaining media relationships with key reporters, as well as managing media lists, editorial calendars, and managing tracking and reporting.

This person will report into the head of external communications for Europe and Americas and will be based out of India.

Key requirements for the role include:

  • 5-7 years of experience in working in external communications/public relations-ideally at an agency (B2B and technology experience preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong prioritization, organization, and project management skills
  • Experience in working with media, building pitches, identifying/targeting press
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills (AP style)
  • Understanding of the media landscape in Europe and Americas-experience in working with a global, multinational company strongly preferred
  • Experience in providing strategic media relations counsel to executives/spokespeople and managing all aspects of the media interview process
  • Sharp eye for what makes 'news', experience in building messaging/story lines that drive media coverage

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with a global group of marketing/communications colleagues to develop and deploy effective PR and media campaigns
  • Develop relationships with journalists and key influencers
  • Review and evaluate incoming media inquiries
  • Monitor media and constantly look for new media pitch angles to drive positive media coverage that ladder up to overarching messages and campaign themes
  • Secure media interviews for executives, develop briefing books, provide media interview tips/counsel, manage interviews
  • Draft or oversee the creation of news releases, thought leadership content
  • Work with the social media team in content creation, as needed
  • Interact with a global group of top level executives, provide media counsel and prep
  • Manage external PR agencies in U.S., Europe (and globally, as needed)
  • Manage crisis and M&A communications, coordinate with all involved parties timely and error-free completion of materials
  • Manage internal approval processes, ensure successful completion of all written projects

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Experience in writing for executives, placing contributed articles
  • An analytical mind with strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of and experience in social media platforms
  • Knowledge of media monitoring, analysis and reporting, including competitive analysis, share of voice, share of reach, and social media metrics analysis and reporting
