ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Software Architect to join our Linux Engineering organization. This key role will lead the design and implementation of infrastructure and DevOps-related development projects, crucial for our open-source initiatives and customer-facing solutions.

ABOUT YOU

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the design and implementation of AWS infrastructure for hosting external and internal sites
  • Architect and manage the repository structure for efficient code management and collaboration
  • Design and implement cloud and local testing infrastructure to ensure robust software quality
  • Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitLab) for streamlined development and deployment processes
  • Design and set up package repositories for customers, ensuring secure and efficient software distribution
  • Provide technical leadership to a team of DevOps and software engineers, guiding projects from conception to completion
  • Own all operations related to maintaining and continuously expanding the infrastructures
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in cloud computing, DevOps, and open-source development

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 13+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead architectural role
  • Extensive experience with Linux systems and open-source development
  • Strong expertise in AWS (or similar cloud platforms) and cloud infrastructure design
  • Proficiency in GitLab administration (or equivalent) and CI/CD pipeline creation
  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices and tools
  • Experience with package management and repository systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior team members

 

Required Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Shell scripting)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Strong knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, ELK stack)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Contributions to open-source projects
  • Experience with Debian-based distributions
  • Familiarity with the embedded systems industry

Compensation                

The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $156,000 to $205,000 plus a bonus for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $165,000 to $215,000 plus a bonus for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC, residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, and 12 paid holidays.
