About the opportunity
Wind River is a leader in delivering software for the intelligent edge. This role requires the understanding and delivery of the technical requirements of major networking and telecom operators. You will leverage Wind River’s Cloud Platform to deliver geographically distributed, high-performance, production grade Kubernetes-based solutions for managing edge cloud infrastructure. Optimized for the network edge, the solutions you will support address service provider’s complex challenges of deploying and managing a physically distributed, cloud native infrastructure.

You must have experience in software engineering with a strong focus on Telecom and data networking. You will need to apply your technical expertise, passion for open source to understand the customer’s problems and develop solutions using our product offerings and services.
A qualified candidate is expected to be hands-on in the deployment of Wind River’s Cloud platform, extending product features, working with hardware, and testing code. Experience in open-source projects such as Ansible, Python, OpenStack, StarlingX, Git and Markdown is a benefit.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Provide technical guidance and delivery of projects based on Wind River’s Cloud Platform to Communication Service Provider (CSP) customers.
- Work with Professional Services Project Managers to prepare project descriptions, identify task lists, set schedules, determine engineering hours, estimate project risk and deliver on successful bids.
- This is a direct customer facing position and requires comfort with customers and issue resolution.
- Some travel required; 1 week/month in CO
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent technical education
- Local resident of the Denver, CO metropolitan area (relocation assistance not available)
- Cloud based certification (AWS/Azure/GCP), or Kubernetes certs - CKA/CKSS/CKAD
- 4 years of relevant, technical work experience.
- Ability to travel for 1 week/month to customer site
- Ability to work legally in the U.S. without sponsorship for any type of visa, both now and in the future.
- This is a direct customer facing position and requires comfort with customers and issue resolution.
- You are authoritative in your decision making and drive solutions, based upon service management essentials.
- Enjoy working on leading edge technologies and projects.
- Expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, Elastic, Kafka, & cloud-native technologies (Type-1 and Type-2).
- Storage configuration expertise such as RAID/Ceph/NFSv3+v4 (on NetApp a plus).
- Strong knowledge of Compute Cluster concepts.
- Working/functional knowledge of network stacks, switching, routing, etc.
- An understanding of how to integrate into Assurance systems.
- Be comfortable with building, reconfiguring and provisioning lab equipment such as servers physical and virtual routers and networks (including IPv4/6) in both Wind River and customers’ lab environments. BMC configurations (iDRAC/ILO/IPM/Redfish).
- Experience in network system-level solution design.
- Exposure to SDN concepts, Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and ETSI-MANO.
- Linux (Debian, Ubuntu) background covering deployment, image build, application, and administration.
- Adept at Python and automation languages like Ansible.
- The ability to work on a team & independently on multiple high priority projects.
- Verbal communications via articulation of past project details desired outcomes and written communication skills.
- Strong Problem-solving skills based upon a myriad of differing scenarios (Network/performance/hardware)
- Ability to replicate customer issues in a Wind River lab
- Ability to think laterally.
Preference will be given to those candidates with the above noted requirements and familiarity with platform software and the Open Source Community
Compensation
- The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $121,600 to $197,500 plus bonus for residents in the state of Colorado. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, location and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, 12 paid holidays.
