ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY  

As a member of the Product Marketing team, the Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing both an outbound and inbound product and solution strategy to grow Wind River as a global leader in the embedded software and intelligent edge industries. You will focus on translating and articulating the Wind River product features and capabilities into customer value propositions for embedded and intelligent edge software development teams. You will need to leverage your understanding in domains such as embedded software, cloud-native software development, DevOps and embedded systems challenges to deliver product marketing content for key Wind River products. This position requires significant collaboration with other contributors in the marketing, sales, alliances, and product management teams, within Wind River and our parent company – Aptiv. You must be able to influence, motivate and lead key stakeholders and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced, senior-level, professional with prior experience in software development tools, and working experience in product marketing or product management, with a passion for communicating solutions to complex customer problems that drive business outcomes.

This position will focus on product marketing of the Wind River Studio Developer software lifecycle and DevOps platform. It will focus on marketing across core Wind River industries such as aerospace & defense, automotive, telecommunications, industrial and medical devices.

Key Accountabilities & Expectations

  • Research the market opportunities, key players, trends, motivations, needs and challenges across industries in software development environments.
  • Define, evolve and evangelize the product positioning and messaging for Wind River’s software tools and related products.
  • Create positioning and messaging for products targeting multiple use cases and personas
  • Build compelling product content that establishes and maintains Wind River’s position as a technical leader in the intelligent edge software market and aligns with Wind River marketing strategies.
  • Be able to define and communicate key software tools capabilities, benefits, and value to customers across key industries.
  • Create sales enablement and training content for a global sales team.
  • Collaborate with other marketing team members on planning and implementing marketing strategies.
  • Develop close alignment with key stakeholders, particularly with senior product management, technology offices, engineering, and field application engineers.
  • Plan and oversee the launch of new products and solutions in partnership with product management, corporate marketing, and other leadership teams.
  • Ensure product marketing initiatives and communications are consistent with corporate strategy, including the value proposition of the products and communicating it to internal and external audiences.
  • Measure and report back to senior management on the performance of product marketing initiatives, including assessment against goals and insights gained.

Core Competencies & Demonstrated Success 

  • Deep expertise in several of the following skills and technology areas:
  • 7+ years of product marketing, product management or engineering experience in the software tools industry
  • Mastery of the terminology, trends, motivations, and challenges of software development processes, needs, metrics, and challenges
  • Strong understanding of embedded software and tools and familiarity with functional safety and security standards
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to implement and execute on significant and complex projects
  • Must be able to concisely communicate and write both short and long-form product and solution collateral
  • Strong understanding of the embedded industry ecosystems, standards bodies, and certification requirements
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence senior leaders in a highly matrixed organization across engineering, sales, and marketing
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking, including experience working with and leading research
  • Demonstrated credibility with customers, partners, and cross functional stakeholders with the ability to create formal networks and to represent the Marketing organization
  • Vertical market experience related to industrial, medical, aerospace, and automotive industries desirable
  • Demonstrated credibility with customers, partners, and cross functional stakeholders

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Computer Science or Sales related field
  • MBA or equivalent preferred

Compensation                

The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is $127,000 to $170,000 plus a bonus for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $145,000 to $195,000 plus a bonus for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC, residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, and 12 paid holidays.
