ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 
  
  
Purpose of the Job 
The Payroll Manager is the key resource to lead a team of Payroll Analysts and Specialists to oversee payroll operations across the United States, Canada, and Costa Rica. Besides the management of administrative tasks, this role will be responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing of multi-country payrolls, managing vendor relationships, and driving process improvements in alignment with business needs.
This role will collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and third-party vendors to ensure compliance with local labour laws and tax regulations while maintaining a seamless employee payroll experience.  
ABOUT YOU  
  
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Leads and manages the payroll team.
  • Ability to process payrolls across 3 countries (United States, Canada and Costa Rica).
  • Reviews and approves payroll runs and conduct regular audits and reconciliations to ensure payroll data accuracy.
  • Ability to mediate with stakeholders and manage expectations by ensuring service levels are met and act as the point of contact for any escalated payroll queries.
  • Administers the state registrations, Year End tax filings and disbursement of employee forms for all applicable countries.
  • Maintains the Payroll Inbox, working to a maximum 24-hour response time, supporting employees with any pay-related queries.
  • Supports all relevant Finance/Accounting teams with reconciliations or general Payroll queries by maintaining accurate payroll reports.
  • Maintains SOX controls and coordinates annual testing and reporting with auditors.
  • Ability to articulate complicated information to non-Payroll experts.
  • Mentors, coaches, and develops employees through orientation, training, the establishment of objectives, communication of policies and rules, and constructive discipline; builds morale and motivation; enabling a high level of retention within the team.
  • Leads continuous process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience

QUALIFICATIONS  
  
  • B.S. / B.A. in Business or Accounting
  • 8+ years of experience in Payroll with experience with United States, Canada, and Costa Rica payrolls
  • Payroll Certification (FPC/CPP)
  • 5+ years of experience leading payroll teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Advanced English is essential
  • Knowledge in ADP Workforce Now and Celergo highly desirable
  • Finance/Accounting background
  • Microsoft Office
