ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 
We seek a Professional Services Director to lead Wind River's Professional Services Studio Linux Services team. Wind River is a world leader in RTOS and Linux platforms. VxWorks and Wind River Linux (based on the Yocto distribution) provide solutions for industries such as Telecom, Industrial, Medical, A&D, and more. With over 30 years of experience developing embedded operating systems, Wind River has a globally experienced team of VxWorks and Linux kernel, design, and compiler experts. Our company has established long-term partnerships with leading companies, ensuring cutting-edge products are supported by Wind River embedded operating systems.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • As a Professional Services Director at Wind River, you will drive the success of the Studio Linux Services business group within Wind River Professional Services. 
  • Lead a diverse global team of Managers, Project Managers, and software engineers / developers whose focus is to enable companies to be successful enabling and leveraging open-source software.
  • Engage with and drive business with a global team of Account managers.
  • Develop strategies to grow the Wind River Linux business globally with open-source technologies.
  • Engage with leaders at companies leveraging open-source solutions within their products.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Work with a global account team to develop proposals that culminate in a sales win but also in a successful project for both Wind River and the Customer
  • Work with your team leaders to motivate your team(s) to deliver excellence to Wind River’s customers.
  • Drive business metrics to ensure profitability with the business group and Wind River
  • You will work closely with engineering, product management and partners from across the company to drive outcomes
 
ABOUT YOU 
Basic Qualifications:  
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related majors.
  • At least 15+ years of experience working in a leadership role (Preferably, within the open-source community).
  • Experience delivering Linux based projects in multiple industries.
  • A history of success working with account managers to build strategies for a winning open-source business.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles for the successful delivery of solutions to customers.
  • Proficient in English communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without any type of visa sponsorship or transfer, now or in the future.
 
 Preferred Qualifications:   
  • To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualities and skills:
  • Strong leadership abilities, leading and working with a remote and diverse team in a collaborative environment.
  • Proven, hands-on experience with the ins and outs of the Linux operating system including Linux kernel, network stacks, user space, drivers, BSP, application package management, SE Linux, RT Linux, and local firewall rules 
  • Experience working with a commercial Linux distro
  • Customer facing experience with the ability to solve complex problems providing unique solutions
  • Management, leadership and governance of the end-to-end delivery processes with responsibility for the quality of pre-delivery scoping, budgets, detailed Project Plans and high-quality delivery exceeding customer expectations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability.
  • Self-motivated individual with a high sense of responsibility.
  • Experience in the open-source community.
  • Knowledge and experience in promoting, and selling solutions based on open-source technologies.

Compensation 
The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $185,200 to $221,000 plus a bonus for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $194,600 to $232,000 plus a bonus for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC, residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, and 12 paid holidays.
