Job Introduction
This unique position of Site Leader for Hudson Whiskey, the first distillery in NYS since Prohibition, offers leading a team in both production and retail as we produce liquid on-site and welcome the public for tours and tastings. Planning, organizing, managing and controlling all of the operational processes which include producing, purchasing, maintenance, quality assurance, planning, logistics, health & safety and customer service by meeting current up-to-date laws and customer satisfaction are the key goals for this position. Although we are located in Gardiner, NY, our Parent company with whom we report to is located in Scotland.
Main Responsibility
- Ensuring site is compliant with all regulatory bodies including but not limited to health & safety, environmental agencies, customs legislation and regional labor laws
- Ensure conformance to plan including but not limited to productivity, efficiency, cost of make, etc. by leading production and spirit supply for the distillery
- Accountable for the management of operational budgets for both variable and fixed costs to ensure a cost effective operation. Minimize plant risk by managing the total cost of plant maintenance in terms of plant reliability, legislative compliance and fixed costs
- Strive to drive improvement to the competitiveness, customer service, quality and efficiency of the site by developing and delivering innovation to the site operations
- Ensure a strong interface with other leaders from other sites within our Parent company to develop and implement best practice processes and procedures maximizing effectiveness and efficiency
- Support the marketing team efforts in ensuring that brand strategies come to life for consumers, customers and business partners
- Lead, motivate and develop the Tuthilltown site team in line with the Company values to maximize diverse and inclusive employee engagement and development
- Ensure continual alignment with wider Parent company, William Grant & Sons, initiatives, systems and ways of working while ensuring all license transfers, etc. are complete and fully complied with

Our ideal candidate must demonstrate a history of strong leadership across multi-disciplined teams and the ability to drive, manage and adapt to change in a fast changing environment. In addition must carry a degree, preferably in Chemistry/Science or Chemical Engineering. A comprehensive understanding of distillation and packaging processes and procedures gained in a manufacturing environment is desirable. Must have sound commercial acumen and relevant knowledge and experience with compliance issues such as Health and Safety, Environment, Customs and Continuous Improvement. Must be a pragmatic problem solver, self motivated, excellent planner, self reliant with interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of the business. In order to operate effectively, must have global awareness across different regions and cultures. Must demonstrate an ability to provide vision and direction and challenge the status quo
