About this role

Wells Fargo seeking a Consumer Technology, Head of Platform Services, the Platform Delivery Leader will collaborate with business CIOs to transform the existing workforce into cross functional squads to build improved products across the Consumer Technology Portfolio. They will guide agile platform squads to increase productivity and quality by learning and applying the right tools and practices to become autonomous cross-functional teams. The Leader will spearhead non-functional requirements to better understand how resilient our systems are and guarantee availability of products and services. Additionally, they will spearhead adoption and delivery of automation in-sprint, delivering improved quality and speed through automation.

In this role, you will:
  • Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
  • Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
  • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
  • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
  • Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third party providers
  • Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
  • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
  • Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
  • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of Management experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Domain experience in Platform Engineering and support, Site Reliability Engineering, Architecture, Branch Banking, and Become a Customer portfolios
  • 8+ years of experience with Agile practices
  • 5+ years of experience with systems architecture
  • Knowledge and understanding of system monitoring and automation
  • Knowledge and understanding of application testing methodologies, tools and execution
  • Ability to influence & build support for strategies across all organizational levels, particularly senior management
  • A Masters degree in computer science or engineering
  • Experience managing large technology development efforts within a major line of business Ability to communicate powerfully and prolifically with experience communicating complex technical information and value/impact in simple terms to senior and executive leaders
  • Highly skilled leadership capabilities including experience building, leading and engaging high-performing, diverse and inclusive teams
Some of the key responsibilities will include:

Collaborate with CIOs to deliver availability, speed, resiliency, and quality outcomes:
  • Transform the existing workforce to one that can build better products across the Consumer Technology portfolio
  • Improve availability, operational efficiency, resiliency and recovery across the 90+ apps that comprise this portfolio
  • Embed cross-functional teams ('squads') to deliver automation and non-functional requirements
  • Culture of 'one team' focused on customer outcomes delivered through modern architecture and infrastructure
  • Shatter the legacy paradigms of 'keep the lights' on support
  • Knowledge of Architecture and App/Dev partner space and tight collaboration across both
Mature Agile Engineering across Consumer Technology Portfolio through partnership with enabling teams including SRE, E&A and CTO:
  • Cross-functional and co-located team support
  • Creating a culture committed to Site Reliability skills maturity and global engineering talent
  • Product knowledge and the ability to lead your teams to become expert knowledge holders themselves
  • Manage, measure, and enforce SRE maturity, expected Agile outcomes, automation standards, code quality and code coverage
  • Collaborate to influence and uphold Enterprise standards around Non-functional Requirements (NFR's), API's, Events
  • Collaborate to ensure all new and modernized applications are cloud first and built to "gold standards"
  • Innovation to improve availability in distributed, mainframe and cloud applications
Spearhead Non-Functional Requirements to both understand how resilient our systems are and guarantee availability of Consumer Technology Portfolio:
  • Define and deliver all new feature functions to include automation and non-functional requirements
  • Accountable to impose constraints via non-functional requirements on the design of the system
  • Accountable for delivery and leadership of these non-functional platform and performance engineering practices (performance, availability, resiliency, scaling, auditability, logging, monitoring, deployment automation, test automation, error handling, 'secure from the start activities')
Spearhead adoption and delivery of automation and code coverage:
  • Define and lead automation, DevOps, and risk avoidance efforts
  • Ensure code coverage for all new/modified code
  • Lead test automation implementation
Deliver efficiency through operational maturity:
  • Define target operating model for a data-driven organization
  • Adopt enterprise tools and standards, resulting in efficiency
  • Challenge paradigms
Lead with Agile Engineering:
  • Define and lead SRE squads, domain drive design practices, and support constructs such as blue/green deployment, A/B testing, feature toggles etc.
Lead Wells Fargo in Site Reliability and Agile Engineering Talent Bench:
  • Develop a T-shaped bench of engineering experts
  • Establish clear objectives and key results
  • Attract and grow diverse teams
  • Establish strong management functions and talent
  • Facilitate an environment for continuous technology learning and 'fail fast' culture
Additional responsibilities may include:
