About this role:

Wells Fargo & Co. is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader for the role of Software Testing and Quality Engineering Director. Reporting to the CIO of GenAI & Consumer Technology, this executive will be responsible for leading the software testing strategy, execution, and quality assurance initiatives across all banking and financial services applications. The Leader will oversee a global team dedicated to ensuring the highest levels of quality, compliance, and performance for Wells Fargo's consumer digital platforms, core banking systems, and financial products.

In this role, you will:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and implement a comprehensive software testing and quality assurance strategy aligned with the technology transformation goals of Wells Fargo's GenAI & Consumer Technology division.
  • Lead a global team of testing professionals, driving innovation and efficiency through automation, AI/ML-driven testing, and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across product, engineering, and operations to integrate testing into the development lifecycle, enabling faster and more reliable software releases.

  • Oversee the quality assurance for mission-critical systems including digital banking platforms, payment systems, lending platforms, and core banking infrastructure.
  • Ensure rigorous testing protocols, including functional, non-functional, security, performance, and compliance testing, across all applications and systems.
  • Lead the adoption of GenAI tools for automated testing, predictive analytics, and defect prevention, ensuring scalability and efficiency in testing processes.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track software quality, test coverage, defect rates, and resolution timelines.
Risk & Compliance Management:
  • Ensure that all testing frameworks and processes adhere to relevant regulatory requirements (FFIEC, OCC, SEC, GDPR, SOX, etc.) and Wells Fargo's risk management standards.
  • Develop and implement a risk-based approach to testing, prioritizing high-risk areas and ensuring the stability and security of critical financial systems.
  • Liaise with internal audit, risk management, and compliance teams to maintain transparency and auditability in testing activities.
Innovation & GenAI Integration:
  • Lead the integration of GenAI tools and AI/ML-driven solutions to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of the software testing processes.
  • Champion the exploration of emerging technologies such as blockchain for secure audit trails and smart contracts for automation in testing processes.
  • Continuously drive innovation and improvement in testing methodologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of technology.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
  • Act as a key advisor to the CIO of GenAI & Consumer Technology and other senior executives, providing insights and recommendations on software quality, testing risks, and performance improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including product development, engineering, compliance, and risk, ensuring alignment on quality objectives.
  • Regularly report on testing outcomes, software quality metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Development:
  • Build and mentor a high-performing, globally distributed testing organization, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Attract and retain top-tier talent in software testing and quality assurance, ensuring a strong pipeline of skilled professionals.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the team, aligning with Wells Fargo's broader DEI objectives.
Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of Management experience
  • 8+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or software engineering, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role within a large technology, banking or financial services organization.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale testing initiatives for core banking systems, payments, digital platforms, and financial services applications.
  • Strong background in test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-driven testing methodologies.
  • Extensive experience working in regulated environments with deep knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., FFIEC, OCC, SEC, GDPR, SOX).
  • Expertise in software testing frameworks, automation tools, and quality management systems (e.g., Selenium, Karate, Cypress, Jenkins, Harness, DevOps).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong strategic leadership and people management skills with the ability to lead large global teams and drive organizational change.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional collaborations.
  • Deep understanding of banking technologies and financial services regulatory environments.
Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$207,900.00 - $431,900.00
