About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Senior Manager responsible for the design, development, testing, documentation, and analysis of general modules or features of new or upgraded software systems and products.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
  • Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering
  • Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers

  • 6+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of Management experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Overall good years of experience including platform monitoring, people management
  • Should have at least hands on 8 - 10 years of experience Production/Platform Support, Automation, Observability and Engineering
  • Should have at least 4 years of managing a team of 10+ resources.
  • Keep abreast with emerging trends and providing recommendations for process improvements Must have high level understanding of the application architecture for different application technologies
  • Perform delivery management functions in an on-shore off-shore model, collaborating with US technology managers to identify and execute appropriate projects.
  • Partner across teams to initiate, promote & implement engineering best practices, drive engineering excellence, and bring new methodologies / approaches to the team
  • Knowledge of UNIX, AIOPS, Splunk, Service Now, Azure fundamentals, monitoring stack, Automation Workflows.
  • Must have knowledge of databases.
Job Expectations:
  • Lead medium to large cross-organizational transformational efforts in Platform space
  • Deliver results in less defined & constantly changing environments
  • Communicate with broad, deep and diverse audiences, including technology and business leaders; ability to simplify complex messages for consumption
  • Build long term relationships with a broad set of partners and influence them to a common vision and strategy
  • Bring in operational management and sustainment for horizontal systems/services within Performance Engineering and Platform monitoring domains.
  • Partner to influence and support innovation & continued drive towards automation, touch less operational sustainment as a design/architecture construct working with CIO technology partners/managers
  • Operational sustainment and reduce risks in the eco-system by aggressively pursuing safety and soundness type of actions not limited to vulnerability, patching, end of life and resiliency
  • Oversight of all Production/BCP support activities for the platform and applications with 24x7 coverage model in a global team setup.
  • Drive operational management via EACO/Incident response, communication and tracking along with root cause identification and closure.
  • Oversight of all production eco-system changes, Incident management and Problem management
  • Provides operational continuity through the development, management, measurement, analysis and reporting of key service-level metrics as required by management
  • Manages continuous services improvements and drives innovation to ensure SLAs and OLAs for the critical business processes, applications and partner interfaces
  • Regular presentation of Production performance and incident, root cause and preventative actions, and trend analysis to technical and business Management teams.
  • Maintain and update all Production related documentation (e.g. game plans, run books, procedures, processes).
  • Ensure effective Production systems monitoring, alerting instrumentation and notification response/maintenance.
  • Budget and cost management of resources, including managing of overtime and time-off.
  • Lead teams with integrity and create an environment where your team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them.
  • Mentor, grow, and empower the team by giving them the skills, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently that lead to their personal and professional success, and enable them to become technical leaders.
  • Ability to productively multi-task and manage multiple concurrent issue resolution work-streams,
  • project deliverables across portfolio in an agile way with changing priorities.
  • Strong written, oral communication skills along with documentation practice.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) required, Collaboration Tools set - JIRA, Confluence etc.
