About this role:

We're seeking a Senior Lead Product Designer to work as part of our industry-leading design teamfocused on creating design foundations delivered through our well-established design system, helping fulfill our purpose of humanizing digital experiences for commercial, corporate, and investment banking.Our design system - Pioneer - is well-funded by the organization and has strong executive support. We are continuing to evolve and modernize our current design foundations to usher in a new generation of digital capabilities.

As a Senior Lead Product Designer, you will be expected to utilize your full range of product design skills (design thinking, interaction design, visual design, information architecture, user research) in developing world class design components and patterns to support a myriad of customer journeys by partnering with product owners, developers, and design peers and partners. Our designers are highly collaborative and partner closely with product owners, developers, design peers and partners to seek feedback, gain insights and ensure design solutions are elegant, scalable, and technically feasible. Key responsibilities will include understanding business drivers and users' needs, crafting design solutions and delivering supporting artifacts, participating in and contributing to Agile planning and ceremonies with partners, and consulting on design direction with both design system constructors and consumers.

The successful candidate will have proven experience and performance as an inventive and collaborative experience designer who understands how to work in a complex ecosystem and partner to deliver transformative customer experiences. This designer will understand how to bring customer perspectives and needs into the conversation with partners and overcome challenges or barriers to achieving experience excellence.

Critical success factors include the ability to navigate effectively in a complex organization, develop partnerships with many stakeholders, and lead through influence. Key traits are a natural curiosity, strong initiative to seek solutions, openness to feedback, and dedication to growth and learning. The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement. This role also requires demonstrated experience bringing teams and perspective together to prioritize and deliver design outcomes. Previous experience designing for design systems and digital financial products is preferred.

In this role, you will:
  • Act as an advisor to senior leadership to develop or influence objectives, plans, specifications, resources, and long-term goals for highly complex business and technical needs across Product Design
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across Product Design or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking, and coordination of highly complex activities and guidance to others
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to senior leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions that are large-scale cross-functional or enterprise-wide strategies
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to Product Design leadership
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Website or Application Design experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • An abundance of enthusiasm for creating journey-based digital experiences and the connective tissue between journeys to support end-to-end customer expectations and needs
  • Systems thinker with prior experience designing for and planning work within an end-to-end journey for digital services in a complex channel ecosystem
  • Expertise in design craft, including information architecture, information design, design specification, and instructional design documentation with command of common design tools, most notably Figma
  • Experience with strategic planning and diagrammatic skills, low fidelity wireframe production, high-fidelity design comp production, and design interaction specifications - including which artifact best suits the communication need
  • Expertise identifying the "design problem to be solved" and leading the team in clarifying strategic direction and priorities to support tactical execution
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, garner feedback, incorporate new ideas and communicate effectively and persuasively when conveying design solutions to a broad range of stakeholders: product managers, engineers, customers, etc.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to shape and drive work independently
  • Ability to energize and motivate others; thrives in teams; highly inclusive, curious, and collaborative with proven ability to lead through influence (vs. authority)
  • Familiarity with iterative and Agile development processes and knowledge of application layer design and front-end code frameworks (React)
  • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1+), and at minimum a foundational understanding of designing for accessibility
  • Technical familiarity and basic capability with HTML, CSS: you can explain the difference between a link and a button, and know the difference between a form element and a content container
Job Expectations:

  • This position is a hybrid work model and will not be a telecommute position, must be willing to work out of Charlotte, NC, New York, NY, or San Francisco, CA approximately 3 days a week
Pay Range:
  • Charlotte, NC: $111,100 - $197,500
  • New York, NY: $133,300 - $237,100
  • San Francisco, CA: $133,300 - $237,100
