Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Compliance Officer to serve as a Business Aligned Compliance Officer (BACO) responsible for compliance oversight of Customer Remediations and Sales Practice Conduct Management groups within Wells Fargo's Chief Operating Office.

The Senior Lead Compliance Officer is responsible for reviewing the front line's execution of its compliance risk management responsibilities; provide independent assessment of, and challenge to, business decisions, business and operating processes, and activities that generate or are related to the identification, assessment, or management of compliance risk.

In this role, you will:
  • Oversee the Front Line's execution and management of Compliance risk while challenging compliance related risks, controls, and decisions.
  • Interpret policies, procedures, and compliance requirements and apply expert business and regulatory compliance functional knowledge.
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals interfacing with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics.
  • Review and challenge Business groups and enterprise functions development, implementation, and maintenance of business procedures that support their management of compliance risk.
  • Reviews applicable regulatory changes, including any preemption determination, and documents associated impact assessments in consultation with the Legal Department and risk coverage teams, as needed, and communicates applicable regulatory changes to affected business groups and enterprise functions and advises on applicability and impacts.
  • Coordinates with business groups and enterprise functions to confirm implementation of applicable regulatory changes.
  • Perform an independent compliance risk assessment based on quantitative and qualitative input, reviews, and challenges front-line assessments of compliance risks.
  • Responsible for performing oversight of and challenge of the alignment of Compliance Requirements to Risk Assessable Units. Engagement of Compliance Risk Type Teams, as appropriate. Participate and engage in RCSA workshops to perform necessary oversight and challenge. Provide documented oversight and challenge for Compliance-related activities.
  • Review and challenge front-line due diligence activities and assessments of compliance risk related to new business initiatives.
  • Review and challenges the front line's management of compliance risks associated with third-party engagements throughout the third-party risk management lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Conduct Risk regarding the assessment and investigation of allegations, the results of such investigations, and decisions concerning any corrective actions.
  • Perform review and challenge of related risk and control ratings; challenging risk mitigation strategies and actions to address gaps in control design or effectiveness with respect to compliance risk.
  • Review and challenge compliance-related issue management activities, including corrective actions or customer remediation plan development, root cause analyses, and identification of cross-business group impact.
  • Oversee the Front Line's development of remediation strategies through consultation and challenge of compliance related decisions, working session engagement, independent review of remediation artifacts, participation in Front Line routines, and documentation of compliance Point of Views (POVs)
  • Execute an annual training needs analysis, which is a component of the annual compliance plan.
  • Develop and execute compliance risk monitoring plan in accordance with the Compliance Monitoring Program.
  • Review and challenges activities related to technology projects to confirm that significant technology changes appropriately account for compliance risk during development and implementation.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • An active Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation
  • Experience interpreting and applying state, federal, and agency legal and regulatory compliance requirements within the financial services industry.
  • Experience providing regulatory compliance risk expertise relating to customer remediation, redress, sales practices, conduct management, allegations.
  • Experience executing the compliance role within Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
  • Experience managing large scale compliance program initiatives in a complex environment.
  • Experience leading high profile, complex issues, and remediation.
  • Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other business and functional areas.
  • Ability to produce executive level reporting in a meaningful and understandable format.
  • Ability to independently gather data and facts to support the review and challenge of front-line reporting.
Job Expectations:
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule.
