About the role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Institutional Investment Operations Specialist to work as a Data Steward in the Shared Services Data Integrity team as a part of Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Operations. This team supports in data quality management through data analysis, data expertise, data extracts and reporting, risk framework uplift, and standardization of reporting and analytics. Data stewardship is a functional role in data management and governance, with responsibility of defining the data, create process and procedures, maintain quality of data, optimize workflows, monitor data usage, & compliance for ensuring that data policies and standards turn into practice within the steward's domain.

Key responsibilities:
- Have extensive knowledge and understanding of Investment Banking and Market Products, data, and its business terminologies.
- Have Strong Knowledge of the banking regulatory reporting rules and regulations including FINRA, QFC and Dodd Frank regulations.
- Understanding of client lifecycle activities, such as corporate actions including merger events
- Understand and map the data life cycle including the upstream and downstream systems and the data flow.
- Advanced knowledge of trade processing life cycle and its products. Developing and maintaining stewardship SOPs and training materials.
- Solid understanding of database structures, warehousing concepts, and experience with data models.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, data tools and knowledge of data mining, data warehousing, and data integration
- Be responsible for data cataloging, data workflow, data monitoring & data advocacy.
- Collaborate with technology, business, and data analysts to translate data into actionable insights.
- Champion efforts to move the organization toward a data-driven culture anchored in digital transformation.
- Propose enhancements to the business rules that validate data entered in the systems.
- Help solve data-related issues by managing data corruption or mapping data between programs.
- Map the life cycle of the SoRs in Operations Shared Services, to track errors in data processes from data sources to consumption.
- Maintain BoW to regularly improve data quality. Create methodologies and rule books to benchmark data quality standards.
- Identify opportunities for process automation through technology.
- Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure robust data quality infrastructure.
- Manage data directories, lineage, and metadata repositories for the assigned System of Records relating to Shared Services-investment banking domain to enhance data usage for promoting ethical data handling practices.
- Map the granular data lineage mapping at attribute and column level across ecosystem from source to destination that's used to understand data quality, compliance, and value. Use of tools to automate data lineage using knowledge graphs will be an advantage.
- Broad-based knowledge of the data for which they are a steward and act as liaisons between the data quality team and business units.
- Create and enforce policies, procedures, and guidelines for data handling, and quality. Classify data, and make sure data is fit for purpose by developing quality rules and auditing data regularly to maintain the integrity of data. Log data issues to work towards resolution.
- Review code values & lists to identify source of master data. Review business terms and associated attributes including calculations and business rules.
- Enable data driven culture across the departments and ensure the organization adheres to regulations. Improve reporting metrics and resolve issues with data. Collaborate with data owners and users to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Attend data management group meetings (e.g., DMI, CDO) and participate in working groups as needed.
- Review reports and visualization to ensure they are performing as expected and meeting the needs of the business ensuring the data is viewed as trusted. Provide guidance, testing support and validation as data assets, dashboards and reports are built.
- The ability to analyze data, data provenance, its regulatory impacts and come up with logical conclusions.
- The ability to speak at training events or draft policies that are easy to understand. Educate end-users about available data, locations, structures, and relationships.
- The ability to adhere to the principles and standards of data protection, privacy, and security.
- The ability to monitor data quality metrics and resolve quality issues.
- The ability to effectively manage metadata to enable data management policy and access to information.
- Also be a part of accessing and granting data sharing privileges along with the data owners.
- Design and build automated data quality checks and validation script processes.
- Implement data cleansing and transformation scripts.
- Integrate data quality tools with existing data systems and workflows.
- Monitor and maintain data quality tools and systems.
- Working knowledge of Data quality tools and Observability tools.
- Certifications in Data Management and data related tools.
- Knowledge of AI/ML methodologies to work on databases to automate data management practices.
- MBA/Engineering or an advanced degree (or equivalent experience)
- Experience with top-tier bank, & Investment Banking specifically.
- Understanding of client life cycle and onboarding of CIB clients
- Proficiency in data management tools and technologies such as SQL, Business Intelligence, Database, Vendor Management, MS Office, ETL tools, BI tools like Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI.
- Strategic thinking and good business judgment.
- Challenge existing organizational practices and conventions.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnership with business partners and other support functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- At least ~8 years of experience in data management, governance, or analysis, preferably with additional experience in business
- Connect to communicate and work in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver to commitments.
- Must be a great team player with a high degree of flexibility, prepared to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent presentation skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, should be comfortable dealing with senior management.
- Structured and disciplined in approach, with strong execution focus and strong organization skills.
- Ability to successfully influence many different groups and individuals to deliver high quality and timely deliverables.
- Consultative in approach, understanding and anticipating business partner needs and proactively delivering solutions.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities.
