About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer

In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of IT platform engineering experience.
  • B.E or M.E or MCA in Computer Science or related engineering disciplines.
  • 6+ years of Enterprise Storage and Backup Server Engineering experience (not IT Operations).
  • 6+ years of Enterprise Storage and Backup Server IT Operations experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with Cloud technologies.
  • 5 + years of designing and building complex solutions leveraging industry standard toolsets and/or custom-built solutions.
  • Extremely strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Job Expectations:
  • Engineer Enterprise Storage and Backup OS platform for use by internal customers.
  • Architect large scale financial services IT platforms with maintainability, observability, security and risk posture in mind.
  • Ideate, incubate and deliver MVPs.
  • Provide thought leadership and cybersecurity/risk analysis that is used to drive strategy of a global IT platform.
  • Present strategy and risk management concepts to C-level executives, IT practitioners, and large audiences.
  • Be a cultural ambassador and work with all levels of team members.
  • Mentor, coach and train junior team members.
  • Be able to multi-task and work calmly in stressful situations.
  • Maintain full visibility and understanding of all risk and control activities, cross product strategies and initiatives, policies and processes, and advise on forward-looking change to strategy that will ensure best risk posture.
  • Engage in major risk and control efforts and other engagements with the lines of defense to ensure a strong risk posture.
  • Provide risk analysis, industry research, and thought leadership to shape product and risk strategy.
