About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Operational Risk Senior Manager.
Operational Risk Senior Manager is responsible for the independent oversight of front-line operational risk management effectiveness for WIM Business. This role is expected to engage with senior business and risk leaders to influence and challenge risk management activities and decisions.
In this role, you will:
- Manage and develop an Operational Risk team of individual contributors and managers in roles with moderate to high complexity and risk
- Manage the development, implementation, and monitoring of a risk-based program for a business or large functional area with moderate to high risk to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events
- Maintain a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency
- Establish and assure execution of operational risk programs companywide with considerable risk and multiple regulatory environments
- Provide operational risk expertise and consulting to complex business units for initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines
- Consult with and influence executive leadership, operational risk, and business management to identify, formulate, and implement operational risk policies, procedures and controls
- Ensure reporting, escalation, and remediation of issues, deficiencies, or regulatory matters regarding operational risk to leaders, committees, and appropriate business management
- Lead initiatives that cross multiple lines of business in scope with significant impact and risk
- Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced leaders
- Lead team to achieve objectives
- Manage communication and collaboration with business heads, Legal, Audit, and regulators on risk related topics
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Operational Risk
- Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
- Provides fiduciary risk expertise to the trust business and oversight of the administrative account review process
- Provides subject matter expertise to the businesses and supporting group partners on select OCC regulations and risk topics
- Monitors the regulatory and industry environment and identifies fiduciary risk issues and may participate in development of risk ratings
- Designs and develops complex oversight strategies, methodologies and analyses for business fiduciary products and services

- 6+ years of Operational Risk experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3+ years of management experience
- Desired Qualifications
- University degree in Business or related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security)
- 3+ years of management experience
- 5+ years Investment management industry experience that includes a thorough knowledge of all investment asset classes, including alternative assets
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge and understanding of investment risk and compliance management processes
- Knowledge and understanding of trust, fiduciary law, and federal regulations/operations
- Good experience in Risk & Compliance, operational risk management (includes Risk/Audit, or the management of a process or business with accountability for Risk & Compliance or Audit), or a combination of both
- Strong experience in leading key risk programs like RCSA, Issue Management and support other group level initiatives (Shared Service Capabilities).
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
- Meaningful knowledge across enterprise risk management framework, including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance
- Deep technical understanding of specific business operations, processes, products and customer interactions and where they manifest risk
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels, and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the business and enterprise Risk function
- Proven leadership skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end to end risk management solutions
- Deep understanding of corporate/business policies, and programs
- Demonstrated leadership ability that embodies the Wells Fargo Vision and Values and leadership competencies
- Proven ability to build, develop and lead a team of risk professionals in a high performing risk management organization
- Consultative in approach, understanding and anticipating business needs and proactively delivering solutions
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or demonstrated progress toward the designation
- Knowledge of investment tools and platforms such as Factset, MSCI Barra, Bloomberg, Thompson Reuters, Morningstar direct etc.
- Ability to oversee an enterprise-wide program designed to achieve and ensure compliance with law and regulations related to assigned subject areas;
