The WIM Residential Real Estate Team partners with Wells Fargo Home Lending (WFHL) to provide Residential Mortgage Products for our Wealth Clients. The Residential Real Estate Alliance provides full-service, consistent and high quality underwriting and decisioning support to the WFHL HNW Mortgage and Alliance Credit Office (ACO) Mortgage . The Underwriter is responsible for underwriting credit of high net worth (HNW) clients for Wealth and Investment Management along with providing consultative support to the WIM sales team by participating in structure, policy and appropriate platform discussions. The individual should possess a strong knowledge of consumer credit lending to HNW clients and have proven expertise evaluating cash flow and balance sheet profiles of individuals.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead complex initiatives including those that are cross-functional with broad impact and act as a key participant in large-scale planning for Wealth Underwriting
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate complex challenges related to multi-faceted, larger scale high-net-worth loans structures, existing portfolio issues, and complex business, operational, or technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangible or unprecedented factors, present recommendations for resolution
  • Make decisions on complex and multi-faceted credit risk management issues to ensure satisfactory credit portfolio risk examinations requiring solid understanding of Wealth Underwriting functional area policies, procedures, regulations, and compliance requirements that influence and lead the Wealth Underwriting team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with Wealth Underwriting peers, colleagues, and mid-level to senior level managers to resolve issues and achieve goals; serve as a peer mentor
  • Partner with Custom Credit Banker and Financial Advisor to provide guidance on due diligence, credit, and loan document negotiations with clients
  • Understanding the borrower's credit needs, financial objectives, evaluating business and personal financial information
  • Determining recurring cash flow available to service debt obligations (both existing and proposed)
  • Providing credit solutions that align to borrower objectives in a manner that satisfies corporate goals/objectives, credit objectives and regulatory compliance
  • Manage client and partner relationships and execute on the delivery of banking products and services with a high degree of professionalism, responsiveness, and urgency bringing to bear expertise and experience for the benefit of the client. Deliver One Wells Fargo to clients, engaging the right partner specialists to fulfill unique client needs. Create awareness of WIM and Wells Fargo offerings by ensuring advisors and partners understand differentiated product features, benefits, and risks. Shorten the distance between the client's request and delivery of the product or solution.
  • Management of all types of risk, including but not limited to, compliance, operational, reputational, conduct, and credit risk in Core and Wealth Banking
  • Support growth in our target client segments across all products and services in WIM by expanding and retaining existing client relationships, and supporting new client acquisition. Deepen and broaden client relationships, enabling growth through the value of an improved client experience.
  • Exhibit leadership skills by doing what is right, doing it well, and leading with an enterprise mindset.
Candidates currently residing in other hub locations within the WF footprint may be considered.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Wealth Underwriting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Knowledge and understanding of High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients: credit requests
  • Commercial loan experience
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Job Expectations:

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$96,600.00 - $171,800.00
