In this role, you will:
- Lead complex or critical database management initiatives that typically involve multiple disciplines and business groups, including database architecture, design, integration and data modeling
- Provide the highest technical expertise for the planning, research, design implementation, maintenance, and control of server class database
- Manage installation, patching, configuration, maintenance and baseline security of OpenEdge RDBMS databases
- Monitor and analyze OpenEdge database performance metrics using Virtual System Tables and PROMON utility tool to proactively address potential issues
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization of OpenEdge Advance Business Language (ABL) queries
- Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies with OpenEdge tool utilities
- Diagnose and resolve OpenEdge database related issues promptly, collaborating with cross functional teams when needed
- Design and certify next generation database technologies
- Implement and enforce security protocols for OpenEdge database, ensuring compliance industry standards and regulations.
- Influence OpenEdge database design decisions, offering insights into schema design and optimization to app dev partners.
- Provide technical leadership and recommendation into the future direction of database technology

- 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of strong experience with Open Edge Progress Database Administration
- 4+ years of experience with AIX
- 4+ years of experience with Cron scripts, Shell scripts, automation scripts
- Extensive hands-on cross server/cross OpenEdge Database migrations
- Hands on experience on OpenEdge database audit and archival processes
- Extensive hands on experience with OpenEdge AfterImage Recovery to minimize data loss and downtime in critical scenarios
- Strong hands on Progress Application Server for Openedge (PASOE) configuration, managing ,maintenance and upgrade
- Strong expertise on business requirements , planning and design of NFRs to capture critical monitoring and observability for application, business process and microservices
- Strong experience in Site Reliability Engineering - Alerting, Auditability, Monitoring, Recoverability, Performance, etc.
- Hands on experience monitoring and ops analysis tools such as Splunk, Grafana.
- Experience utilizing scripting languages to automate routine tasks and streamline operational processes
- Well-versed with batch processing tools - (i.e., Autosys, Cron jobs)
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours on occasion as needed
- Position offers hybrid work schedule consisting of at least 3 days per week onsite
