About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, specializing in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). This engineering role is a hands-on opportunity to be responsible for the delivery of features enabling IaC functionality for other engineers to consume, driving solutions and frameworks to advance IaC adoption and standards across all of Wells Fargo Technology. The ideal candidate has a strong and broad technical background in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining systems automation solutions using cloud-native tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Salt, Chef, Kubernetes and/or other container/workload orchestration solutions).

In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide product/platform vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Facilitating frequent collaboration between customers, stakeholders, and teams throughout the product lifecycle
  • Actively own and prioritize a clearly understood product area backlog aligned to product area vision and goals, to advance the IaC program within the Chief Technology Office
  • Coordinating with other product owners in service of the customer experience.
  • Defining and refining user stories, including business readiness stories, ensuring acceptance criteria is clearly understood by the team
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
  • Build CI/CD orchestration pipelines for IaC and deploy/test across environments
  • Integrate with enterprise tools and environment standards
  • Shape technical proposals to be commercially acceptable to the customer
  • Defines the approach to larger/more complex solution development and acceptance testing
  • Contributes to the overall platform architecture
  • Design solutions of significant size and complexity
  • Collaborate with application teams and onboard new application platforms onto Terraform Enterprise
  • Lead or participate in high level technical concepts spanning technology and business
  • Develop specifications for complex infrastructure systems, design and test solutions
  • Contribute to the testing of business, application and technical infrastructure requirements
  • Drive solutions to reduce recovery time and recovery point capabilities
  • Review and analyze solutions for security, secrets management, and key rotations (Security Automation)
  • Design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile development practices
  • Resolve troublesome trends as they develop
  • Develop a long-range plan designed to resolve problems and prevent them from recurring
Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience in Cloud Computing, DevSecOps, and Infrastructure Automation technologies
Desired Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience operating and administrating Kubernetes (or other container orchestration) environments at enterprise scale
  • Experience working with ServiceNow
  • Experiencing working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience working on platform engineering teams
  • Experience using GitHub Actions
  • Experience using Harness CI or Harness CD
  • Experience in creating and deploying IaC frameworks for a large customer base
  • Experience managing configuration, build and deployments for enterprise software solutions
  • Development experience with Python or Perl or other scripting languages
  • In-Depth knowledge of Windows Server and Linux orchestration and automation
  • Multi-tasking experience - managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to create product backlog (write epics/features/stories)
  • Experienced in working in Agile methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills - written and spoken
  • Understanding of network fundamentals, APIs, and web protocols
  • Ability to understand critical issues and bring appropriate resolution to complex issues
  • High degree of professionalism, self-motivation and problem-solving attitude
