About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Financial Accountant to join the Corporate & Investment Banking Controllers Team. The Accountant will be responsible for supporting line of business accounting activities while partnering with various groups across the organization and our key line of business partners.
In this role, you will:
- Provide technical expertise regarding accounting issues, regulatory information and research
- Provide data for preparing and reviewing financial and regulatory reports
- Communicate practices and procedures for proper financial control functions in accordance with the company's internal controls policies
- Provide technical interpretation on matters and a key change agent in building and adopting best practices within the functional area
- Provide work guidance or mentorship to other peers
- Serve as a lead accounting resource for various tax credit investment portfolios
- Interface with the Enterprise Accounting Policy (EAP) team on accounting policy interpretive matters
- Act as a primary contact to the front office for new transactions and issues across the portfolios
- Responsible for enhancing and championing a COSO compliant control environment
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of SEC and Regulatory reports and filings
- Ensure accuracy and timely completion of the books and records
- Ensure the control environment is well designed and operating effectively
- Key processes are operating effectively and efficiently
- Reporting and communication requirements are satisfied on a timely basis

- 5+ years of Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting or Risk Reporting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Big four public accounting experience
- Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles in the capital markets industry and practically apply those principles to transactions
- Experience preparing SEC & Regulatory reports for capital market products
- 3+ years of financial services industry experience
- Proficient in use of Essbase/SmartView/IRIS
- Strong organizational, prioritizing, and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to grasp complex business issues quickly, recommend solutions, and drive for resolutions
- Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
- Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
- This position offers a hybrid work schedule
