About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Credit Risk Officer in Corporate Risk as part of the Consumer Small & Business Banking (CSBB) Chief Risk Office. The position will support Small and Business Banking (SBB) Credit Risk.

The individual will leverage their experience and knowledge of risk management, business functions, small business products and services to provide credit risk oversight for Wells Fargo's Small and Business Banking line of business, specifically focused on commercial real estate, practice finance and asset secured lending (ASL) products.

More specifically, the individual will be evaluating and sizing risk and opportunities, developing lending policies and strategies by balancing data-driven analytics and sound credit risk judgment, and managing credit exposure risk at the product and customer level. The individual will partner with the immediate team, SBB Credit Risk, Product, Operations, and Technology to implement new enhancements and continuously optimize credit risk strategies. This includes developing credit risk control requirements for the underwriting and decisioning platforms.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead complex initiatives including those that are cross-functional with broad impact and act as key participant in driving the company credit culture, desire, and business performance for Credit Risk
  • Review and analyze complex strategies, programs, and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite and culture
  • Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Interact with internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with business for oversight of risk management while receiving direction from leaders
  • Interact with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics
  • Demonstrate proven leadership experience and skills
  • Implement, test, and monitor credit strategies in a decision platform
  • Establish priorities and drive accountability for assigned initiatives, providing leadership to ensure solutions are designed, integrated, and controlled to optimize effectiveness, account for all aspects of risk exposure, and create efficiencies as appropriate
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and understanding of small business, practice financing or commercial lending loan practices, policies, and procedures
  • Familiarity with origination underwriting and decision strategy platforms
  • Policy and/or procedure management experience
  • Ability to communicate issues, risks, and proposed solutions effectively and succinctly, in both written and verbal formats, with senior leaders
  • Strong collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to successfully manage strategic initiatives with business partners
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent proficiency in programming and data manipulation using SQL, Python, Tableau
  • Experience with Agile practices and frameworks (e.g., Kanban, Scrum, etc.) and workflow and collaboration tools, such as Confluence, Jira and Jira Align
  • Undergraduate degree

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$111,100.00 - $197,500.00
