Wealthfront is looking for a Senior Staff Product Designer. This role is ideal for an experienced designer who deeply loves the craft of making great products for our clients. They will work across design systems and embed with specific product teams on high-leverage projects. This is for someone who is excited about having impact through defining great patterns, systems, and tooling that uplevel the work of the design team AND developing simple, delightful products and features.
Success in this role will require strong collaboration skills, ability to think in scalable systems/platforms, and a high bar for craft & execution. Building great financial products requires digging diligently into the details and going deep to transform complex problems into elegant solutions. We’re seeking a designer who cares deeply about all aspects of a great product experience, from strategy to pattern to pixel.

At Wealthfront, Design is an equal partner to Engineering and Product. It plays an important role in the executive staff that collectively makes all critical strategic decisions. As a leader of your craft, your role will be to model this, develop these skills in your design teams, and contribute to the company-level design organization in partnership with the design leadership team.
We’re a remote-first team and open to candidates in the US.
Key responsibilities
1. Design Systems
-Defining quality for design at Wealthfront by ensuring our Design System is principled, elegant, and impactful.
-Product initiatives include key components, product and content design patterns, accessibility, tooling, etc. to uplevel and improve efficiency for design and engineering, creating consistent, high quality, and performant experiences for our clients.
2. Support high-impact work happening across the company
-Act in leadership or support capacity for important projects.
-Create structure and drive outcomes for high-ambiguity, high-complexity work, including organizing and driving design sprints, upleveling strategy and craft, designing and delivering world-class designs.
-Work in close partnership with cross-functional partners and other designers.
-Connect dots across related client needs and projects.
-Mentor other designers, particularly around craft.
3. Overall
-Partnering with pm, eng, research, data science, legal, compliance, and other designers to identify, prioritize, and ship high-impact opportunities across Design Systems and Wealthfront.
-Contribute to the development of the design team by assisting with hiring, guiding the work, mentorship, cultivating excellence, and building an inclusive culture.
-Helping us innovate and scale as a company by partnering with leaders across Wealthfront. Identify and pursue impactful ideas on everything from what we build to how we work, such that we are able to learn as quickly and “lean-ly” as possible.
Skills and experience
- 10+ years of product design experience in a consumer software company
- You know how to drive high-quality decisions
- You’re an exceptional product thinker who understands the business
- You have a proven track record setting a vision for great customer experiences, inspiring others to get behind a vision, translating a vision into roadmap, and ensuring your team ships high quality experiences to bring the team’s vision to customers
- Your have strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- You know how to effectively use tools such as user experience methods, innovation, ideation, storytelling, prototyping, design frameworks, concept visualization, problem-framing skills and design principles
- You model a respectful, inclusive culture where debate is welcomed
- You are naturally curious and are deeply interested in fintech
- Bonus: experience building modern fintech products

Estimated annual salary: ~ $225,000 USD plus equity and discretionary bonus.
