Overview

We need your talent! Wyatt Technology, Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Manufacturing Software Enginner to join our Operations Team here in Santa Barbara, CA.

Our team understands the value of their work in the real world. As a Manufacturing Software Engineer in Santa Barbara, you'll be working along side our Research and Development team, and Operations teams. You will be the product owner and technical expert for our Manufacturing software portfolio, and be fully engaged on multiple projects, providing leadership in gathering requirements, defining solutions, and identifying opportunities for process optimization and automation

We're looking for a passionate Manufacturing Software Enginner with a talent for building quality software solutions. You will work in a fast-paced, agile environment and engage in technical discussions, participate in technical designs, demonstrate problem-solving abilities, and present and share ideas through collaboration.

Responsibilities

The meaningful work you will be asked to lead:

  • Primary contributor to new product development projects with a focus on developing and implementing new systems and processes within instrument travelers that will be used to track instrument records such as calibrations and performance testing. Work with Engineering to design scripts to automate as much of the traveler testing as possible.
  • Supports troubleshooting of Manufacturing-related software operational issues.
  • Work with Engineering department as needed to write scripts to facilitate current or improved procedures.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to evaluate design and processes at concept phase and set expectations for manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborating with engineers and operators to understand the pain points or optimization opportunities in our production processes, to determine where software solutions can improve our ability to reduce variation, rework, or waste.
  • Research software automation and optimize current production procedures using programming knowledge.
  • Replace VBA Scripts using Python and maintain and improve code base.
  • Participating in, and helping to mature and scale, development processes such as code reviews, backlog reviews, and scrum meetings.
  • Other duties and tasks deemed appropriate for the position.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in software development.
  • 2 years or more of Python programming.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint).
  • Proficiency with Git.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and database management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
