Overview

The Senior Technical Writer plans, schedules, and produces technical content in various digital formats for a global audience.

The Senior Technical Writer works independently as a contributing member of a multi-disciplinary team that develops content to support Waters' laboratory instrumentation and related software.

This is a Hybrid position out of Milford, MA

Responsibilities

  • Independently produce technically accurate, concise, and well-written user documentation while adhering to a structured style guide.
  • Work concurrently on several deliverables while consistently meeting deadlines and escalating to management appropriately.
  • Over time, obtain a deep understanding of Waters products and processes and translate information into simplified, consumable, technical content.
  • Collaborate as a member of cross-functional project teams, specifically working with software/hardware development teams, evaluation/test, training, and customer support.
  • Partner with UX/UI Designers to define interaction narrative and appropriate on-screen content based on Waters content guidelines.
  • Communicate and share project and technical information willingly across project teams and within the Waters technical writing community.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with all Waters employees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in technical writing or a science, engineering, or software related discipline is preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience with technical/scientific writing for biotechnology, medical device, or instrument hardware technology highly preferred.
  • Experience with publishing technologies (ex: FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, X-Metal, RWS CMS, HTML, Figma, XML).
  • Experience with DITA and topic-based writing.
  • Experience with SAP and Atlassian business tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and interest in the biotechnology/life sciences industry.
  • Experience applying CX/UX principles to deeply understand target audience and create outstanding technical content is highly desirable.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to produce a portfolio of writing samples for an interview.
