Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Sr Director will be a key member of the IT leadership team and will play a central role in developing Waters' world class IT systems. Specifically, the new Senior Director will be responsible for delivering cutting edge technology and partnering with the CIO to drive IT transformation.

Aspects of the role include but not limit to:

  • Build out and lead a global enterprise infrastructure and create a 24/7 help desk to support the 7,000 employees of Waters world-wide
  • Global responsibility for IT Technology and Infrastructure Services including Strategy, Planning, Architecture, Service Delivery & Operations worldwide
  • Global Strategic I&O Transformation, Outsourcing and Resource Optimization
  • Digital Transformation including Global Cloud Services Transition
  • Global Service Desk process reform and optimization based on ITIL framework
  • Leading migrations to cloud services and SaaS solutions
  • Define and implement a modern and flexible end user experience strategy that focuses on providing frictionless technology solutions for all employees

Responsibilities

  • Build out and lead a global enterprise infrastructure and create a 24/7 help desk to support the 7,000 employees of Waters world-wide
  • Ensure disaster recovery plans are operational for all externally hosted applications.
  • Ensure that operations and infrastructure services (data center, cloud, SaaS, desktop support, mail, security, etc.) operate with a high degree of availability, reliability and resiliency with the ability to apply generally accepted industry standards (e.g. ITIL).
  • Proactively manage Waters' vendor resources to work through events / problems that occur within the Waters computing environment in order to minimize end-user impact; appropriately draft and distribute communications to the IT team and affected end-users
  • Negotiate and establish Service Level Agreements and Operating Level Agreements in alignment with company objectives and customer needs
  • Act as a trusted advisor, build and maintain relationships with other IT leaders and business executives to develop a clear understanding of business needs
  • Ensure cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs and respond with agility to changing business priorities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years of experience with technology solutions through highly integrated enterprise, with at least 10 years of experience leading organizations.
  • Experience with large-scale IT integration efforts, public-facing technology mergers and acquisitions and the ability to establish, communicate and maintain technology standards across Waters' business segments
  • Capable of executing short-term (tactical) and long term (strategic) plans
  • Ability to evangelize and sell stakeholders across the company on key I/O priorities and how they connect with larger company initiatives
  • Significant experience contributing to a senior management team - this assumes participation in strategic and business planning, product strategy, operations, sales, marketing, and overall business direction
  • High level of financial literacy oversight in order to effectively manage technology, expenses and capital spending, producing cost analysis that considers the costs and benefits, not only in the technology areas, but also in the user business areas

    • Track record of success in communicating technical information to non-technical audiences. Demonstrates experience in gaining the confidence of divisional senior executive audiences or higher.
    • Openly communicative of ideas with others and inviting and considering input from the business, IT peers and their direct reports. This executive will be accessible and approachable, respecting intellectual integrity and valuing individuality, building and fostering working relationships with business partners from a variety of functions and geographies, thus enabling a partnership mentality with the management team.
    • Able to appropriately delegate key responsibilities and transfer some of their own duties and decisions as the direct/indirect reports' number and abilities grow.
    • Superior project management and prioritization skills ensuring the delivery of complex projects on-time, on-budget and on-scope.
    • Dynamic, engaging, self-reliant and entrepreneurial senior executive, accustomed to managing with a collaborative, fact-based approach, and articulate communication and interpersonal warmth.
