Overview
Waters are seeking a Sales Application Chemist to join the team in Milan!
As a member of the Support and Application Specialist Group of Southern Europe Region, the primary responsibilities will be the on-site pre-sales support, perform demonstrations, sample analysis and presentations of our technological solutions to customers as part of their purchasing process, and deliver customer trainings and post-sales application support.
Responsibilities
Drive product demonstrations to customers by providing information on correct use, product features, functionality, application of instruments and software, and standard processes. This task will mainly cover UPLC chromatographic systems coupled with different optical detections or quadrupole and time-of-flight mass spectrometers.

Application optimization: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to customize applications and methodologies. This includes troubleshooting, method development, and data interpretation.
Customer trainings on hardware, software and applications, at customer sites or at Waters demolab.
Technical Presentations: Deliver presentations to showcase the capabilities and benefits of solutions for various applications. Effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
Foster Collaboration: Work collaboratively with internal teams, including marketing, sales and service, to support the strategic execution of the entire demonstration and training process.
Scientific Support: Stay informed of the latest scientific publications, methodologies and regulatory requirements. Act as a trusted expert. Provide scientific support and advice to internal teams and customers and identify opportunities for improvement.
As this role reports to the Southern Europe region instrument sales team, particular attention will be paid to understanding the business challenges and how to contribute to achieving the subsidiary's objectives.
The activity is shared between the applications laboratory located in Milan and customer visits to prepare tests, set up applications or train new users on our analytical and software solutions.
This is a territory-based position with travelling within your designated territory, and occasional travels to other countries for activities such as governance of department, local business support, meetings and training.
A clean driving license and a valid passport will be required.
Qualifications
Education: Master degree or PhD : Engineer/PhD in analytical chemistry or biochemistry
Experience:
Experience in a laboratory, with hands-on in liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry
Very good expertise of separation technologies (Liquid Chromatography), tandem and TOF mass spectrometry, and the coupling of these techniques.
Experience in method development.
Experience in project management and customer contacts.
Exposure within relevant field/industry (Food & Environment, Pharma and Biopharma, Chemical materials...)
Knowledge:
Empower, Masslynx or Waters_connect software.
Excellent command of English - Another European language: a plus (preference for Spanish or French)
Knowledge of Outlook, Practice of a CRM (ideally Sales Force)
Mastery of the Office Pack in the Windows environment: Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in local language and English. Knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage, preferably French or Spanish.
